Plant Pilot Technician
DescriptionCortevaAgriscience, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont has an excitingopportunity for a Pilot Plant Technologist supporting scale-up facilitieslocated within the large Michigan Operations iPark site situated in Midland,MI. Throughsafe and efficient operation, the Pilot Plant staff scales up chemicalprocesses from laboratory to intermediate scale in order to generate quantitiesof new chemical intermediates and Active Ingredients being evaluated forsubsequent commercial launch, simultaneously generating and collecting processdata which will ultimately enable full-scale manufacturing. Fundamentally,the Technologist collaborates with other Technologists, Engineers and R&Dpersonnel to prepare for and execute these various scale-up campaigns. Position duties will include:Operatein a safe and efficient manner the Pilot Plants unit operations, equipment andprocess control systems associated with chemical reactions, distillations,crystallizations, filtrations, drying, packaging and other processing steps.Handleraw materials, intermediates and final Active Ingredients according to safetyand quality standards.Assistwith development of operating procedures for new technologies, differentequipment configurations, and responses to potential hazards associated witheach campaign.MaintainPilot Plant equipment and complete campaign process modifications bycompetitive work practices such as minor demolition and pipe fitting.Serveas facility representative for maintenance and project crews brought into thePilot Plants.Duringeach campaign, complete batch production records and other critical plantoperating procedures, collect samples and monitor process data, and respond toprocess needs while adhering to Corteva standards and work processes.Troubleshootoperational and mechanical problems encountered.Identifymaintenance needs and participate in pre-maintenance equipment preparationwork.Serveas Shift Activity Coordinator to ensure planned and unplanned Startups andShutdowns are executed in a safe and effective manner using appropriateprocedures.Execute post-campaignequipment cleanout to ready the assets for a subsequent campaign.Qualifications To be qualified forthis role, you must possess the following:Education:Aminimum of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required. Associates degree is preferred.Skills:Technicaland mechanical aptitude to work in a Pilot Plant environment.Knowledgeand application of Corteva Environmental, Health and Safety standards,including a strong commitment to safety and a willingness to intervene withothers when necessary.Strongcommunication, collaboration and interpersonal effectiveness.Continuousimprovement of troubleshooting capabilities and technical knowledge.Mustbe able to read, write, and speak English.Mustbe able to willing and able to work in such environments wearing safetyequipment, such as SCBA, respirators, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes. Mustbe able to willing and able to work in such environments with frequent bending,reaching, and lifting.Mustbe willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
