Plant Support, Contamination Control & Regulatory- Decatur, IL This is an exempt, full time position Job Description:This position reports through the Biotech Leadership Group, within the Research division, of Archer Daniels Midland Company. The group is focused on identifying, characterizing, and determining the sources of contamination, as well as troubleshooting, improving, and optimizing facility processes. The position also supports regulatory submissions of new production strains through execution of various laboratory assays as required by domestic and international guidance for food and feed additives. The successful candidate will be a leader in a production support role.
This includes a multidisciplinary approach to experimental design based on the needs of the projects.
Requirements:Bachelor?s Degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field or 5 years of microbiological contamination experience, preferably in a regulated industryKnowledge of microbial attributes and their sources as well as the ability to apply this knowledge to investigate, troubleshoot, and offer input to control and mitigate contamination
Experience in traditional culture-based microbiological methodologies and automated or rapid instrumentation applications to quantify and identify microbial isolatesWorking understanding of sterilization processes and other microbiological control strategies such as effective cleaning practices and aseptic design Competency in scientific calculations including logarithmic mathematics, trend reports, and chemistry with the capability to apply these skills to complex datasetsMust be willing to work in a plant production environment (hot conditions, climbing stairways or ladders, working around steam) Must be able to lift 50 lbs Desired experience or characteristics:Self-motivated; ambitiousPositive attitudeGood communication skillsExperience in both production and laboratory environments, preferably in a regulated industryHigh mechanical aptitudeProject team membershipSafety conscious
Primary Responsibilities:Lead and provide plant support for current production and new initiatives.
Assist and lead in troubleshooting through collaborative efforts between research and the production teams
Follow SOPs, learn plant systems (design and operation)Execute experiments as assigned, record and analyze data with accuracy and efficiencyFollow project schedule; meet deadlines; adapt to changing priorities Deliver regular progress reports to project leader Work in an aseptic manner and maintain a clean work spaceResearch, develop and present new methods and emerging technologies, as applicable, to Biotech Leadership TeamRead industrial biotechnology, fermentation, technology publications
Promote new ideas and communicate across multi-disciplinary teams
