You don?t have the first few row passes to get the equipment set; those first few rows may be the entire plot, and encompass a dozen varieties! ?Precision is critical: you can?t assess which variety is better if they didn?t all get uniform water, fertility and pest management. But what a rewarding experience to stand with the clients in the field when they see the seed for their next season?s breeding program; to exchange high fives with your teammates; to tell your friends that you helped develop a new, drought resistant crop.?You?ll have to work very closely with the research staff to assure growing practices are consistent with clients' protocols and you?ll have to be obsessive at detailed recordkeeping. ?The successful candidate will be a self-starter with an upbeat positive attitude, excellent organizational skills, the ability to set up and maintain schedules for multiple projects, an ability to easily accommodate changing priorities mid-stream, a high sense of urgency to meet deadlines, a willingness to stay upbeat in the face of equipment failures and limited resources, and a strong desire to engage in robust verbal and written communication.? In the field, under real world conditions, we generate data for products and systems such as fertilizers, organic and conventional pesticides, growth enhancers, conventional and biotech seed and plant varieties, irrigation, equipment, farming systems, and more.? Between our operations in the low desert of Arizona and the high plains of Montana we conduct field studies in over 75 different crops.?
