Performs major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on gasoline and marine engines, motors, and related marine equipment and systems using schematic charts and technical manuals.Establishes, maintains, and on-site supervisor for preventive maintenance program for marine engines and related marine equipment, including main engine and generator overhaul program.
Troubleshoots and tests marine engines and equipment to determine need for repairs or adjustments.Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.Operates hand and power tools associated with marine engine and equipment repair.Supervises lineboat engineers, and oversee duties of shipyard personnel and service vendors.Assists in fabrication of equipment. Purchases parts and supplies.Writes specifications for and recommends purchase of marine equipment.Compile work and time schedules.Handle personnel matters.Perform administrative functions.Analyze reports, maintain engineering computer programs, and maintain underwater spares inventory.Follow USCG and other government regulations.Research, develop, and implement special project, both in engineering and other departments.Promote safe working environment for all employees.Perform project manager functions for various shipyard periods and major repairs/conversionsExperience in new vessel construction is preferred.Establishes, maintains, and on-site supervisor for preventive maintenance programs for marine engines and related marine equipment, including main engine and generator overhaul program. Qualifications:
Must be able to perform skilled work in the maintenance and repair of marine engines, marine machinery, and related equipment.
Must be able to perform computer skills, including emailing, Microsoft office applications, and internet-based applications.Possess working knowledge of electrical, computer, hydraulic and fluid systems, fuel systems, general mechanical knowledge of all vessel operations.
Must live in New Orleans area and work out of the ARTCO New Orleans Shipyard. Must be on call 24/7. Represent the company?s best interest and many times will be the first company contact.Possess good communication skills. Physical Requirements (Including but not limited to): Sitting for extended periods of time, walking, balancing, bending, lifting and carrying weight or 50 pounds or more, grasping, reaching, sitting, standing, turning, twisting, hearing, talking. This position cannot have any physical limitations in working indoors/outdoors, standing, kneeling, operating a keyboard, climbing stairs/ladders and working on the telephone.Recruiter ?
