Poultry Business Lead
Cargill Protein is a leader at delivering primary processed and value added proteins into the Foodservice, Retail and Manufacturing market channels. It operates several food processing facilities located in the US and Canada. Our customers in Foodservice are comprised of large national restaurant chain operators, contract feeding companies and both national and regional foodservice distributors. Our Retail customers are comprised of primarily large national grocery retailers and warehouse clubs. Our Manufacturing customers are comprised of large branded manufacturers of retail consumer packaged goods. The customers from these channels are attracted to working with Cargill because of our demonstrated leadership in delivering innovative products, integrity, operational excellence, food safety and risk management.Position PurposeThe Poultry Business Lead drives decisions making within and across channels to optimize total Cargill Protein performance (profitable top line revenue growth) and support sustainable long-term growth. This role also leads and defines strategic objectives and directives related to the channel product portfolio to grow business within the channel. The Business Lead plays a key role in overseeing four distinct areas:Channel Strategy and Portfolio Management: The primary responsibility of the Poultry Business Lead will be to manage the total product portfolio within the channel, including understanding and responding to customer needs and market dynamics to drive demand and grow the business through the overall strategyS&OP and Supply Chain Coordination: The Poultry Business Lead will serve as the executive champion for the S&OP process within the channel and will provide a holistic (across channels) tie-break perspective on go / no-go and trade offs decisions presented through the S&OP processPricing: The Poultry Business Lead will be accountable and help develop channel-specific Pricing Strategy and will support Pricing Execution?Cross-Channel Coordination: The Poultry Business Leads will coordinate with their counterparts across all channels and in the supply chain/BOSC to communicate and manage product needs and budget requirementsPrincipal Accountabilities?45% Channel Strategy and Portfolio Management:?Understand channel-specific customer needs and market / competitive trends to lead others and manage the portfolio across all product linesServe as a protein expert, understanding protein-specific demand drivers and customer needs and managing the channel?s product portfolio in service of those specific customer needsSupport the intentional shift of product from commodity to value-addCoordinate across product lines and proteins to ensure profitable growth of the full portfolio25%
S&OP and Supply Chain Coordination:?Coordinate with Business Operations & Supply Chain (BOSC) on channel / customer dynamics and communicate product needs and budget requirementsServe as the executive sponsor for ongoing S&OP processes and represent the channel through participation in Operating ReviewBring a holistic viewpoint, serving as an unbiased contributor in key meetings and decisions?Participate in monthly operating review and executive review meetings?Coordinate with channel business management to engage in channel-level meetings preceding operating review, as needed?Drive ?interlock? meetings (meetings that occur as needed more frequent than monthly)Own ultimate decision rights for making and communicating S&OP decisions, including:?Serving as a tie-break with customer business and supply chain S&OP stakeholders for non-escalated items, as needed?Escalating S&OP topics to the Group President, as needed20%
Pricing Strategy (execution in sales):Responsible for price execution across the product portfolio (configuration of the total integrated offer, assessment of value to the customer, understanding of competitive/market dynamics, and price realization)Manage channel profitability by regularly reviewing account and product level profitability to identify profit improvement opportunities?10%
Cross-Channel CoordinationProvide oversight of and lead strategic planning for channel-level business managers, supporting their close coordination and engagement with supply chains and customer teams to promote total Cargill Protein profitabilityCoordinate with Business Leads across products and in other channels to resolve supply constraints, leverage new product opportunities, etc.?Ensure channel is effectively promoting and incorporating overall strategy shift from commodity to value add productOversee business case development in support of customer and production decision making and address cross-channel decision making challenges as neededSkills:
Required Qualifications? Bachelor?s Degree?? 8+ years of experience in business development, general management, strategic planning, or a related commercial role.? Demonstrated ability to analyze, formulate and implement strategies and processes to significantly improve business performance and profitability?? Previous experience as a multi-functional project team leader with the ability to drive projects to closure? Excellent financial analysis skills? Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous environments and utilize active inquiry skills? Proven ability to influence at all levels within the organization?? Demonstrated effective ability to teach/coach others within and outside reporting relationships? Strong communication skills, written and verbal? Strong collaboration and influencing skills? Demonstrated effective Commercial Problem Solving / Decision Making? Proficient in MS OfficePreferred Qualifications? MBA?
