Principal Process Developer – Bakery
Position Purpose & SummaryThe Principal Process Developer – Bakery has overall accountability for delivering against oils and shortenings innovation goals for Global Edible Oil Solutions (GEOS) with primary focus on the global bakery category.? Other category work will be in scope depending on business priorities.? The Principal Process Developer – Bakery provides the technical thought leadership for ideation and identifies and implements the technical solutions for production of new products identified by product developers.? Responsibilities include development & execution of all aspects of the technical plan to manufacture products which will meet new product growth objectives.? Other responsibilities include coordination with Intellectual Asset Management Team to develop and execute against the intellectual property strategy.? Role also is responsible for maintaining strategic technical partnerships, including external technology providers, and internal global technology partnerships such as Operations, IMN (Ingredient, Materials and Nutrition), technology vendors and industry groups.Principal Accountabilities70% – Technical Leadership ? Supports development of and owns execution against the global bakery strategy for processing technology.? Translates the strategy into action plans through identification and implementation of technical solutions to drive process development necessary for new products.? Responsible for all technical aspects of the process development life cycle from ideation/concept, bench & pilot scale testing, commercialization and validation along with development and coordination of the intellectual property strategy.? Supports work through hands on experimentation at bench, pilot and production scales. Leads teams that conduct process development activities for identified initiatives and works across functions to move these to commercialization.? Drives search & reapply activities across the globe.30% – Technology Partnerships – Ensures the foundational processing technical knowledge is in place to support global bakery strategy initiatives.? Identifies technical knowledge gaps and leverages internal and external technology partnerships to ensure successful execution against projects.? Identifies and manages foundational research projects with Operations, IMN (Ingredient, Materials and Nutrition) and other technology partners ensuring scope, progress and relevancy is tracking.? Drives global technology scanning activites, actively seeking/exploring external distruptive and enabling tehcnologies that can drive differentiation in the portfolio.? Engages both internal and external partners including technology vendors and industry groups. Ensures appropriate protection of Cargill intellectual property.Skills:
Required Qualifications? BS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering or closely related field? 10 or more years food industry experience in? Process Development, Technical Service or Process Engineering role? Knowledge of food oils processing, bakery products and processes? Experience working with equipment for producing shortening? Experience working in or running experimental trials in a production environment? Project management experience including development and management of project timelines and experimental plans? Ability to lead diverse, cross functional project teams to solve problems and pursue opportunitiesPreferred Qualifications? M.S. or Ph.D. in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or closely related field? 15 or more years R&D Food Industry experience?? 5 or more years R&D food industry experience in process development focused on edible oils production? Experience with processing technology for bakery products?
