Process Development Biologist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Process Development Biologist are to:
Perform process development activities in the biological pilot facility in Shawnee. Participate in technical transfer and process improvement activities for Bayer Animal Health Biologicals in close cooperation with other departments for internal as well as for external manufacturers to ensure a stable compliant and high quality supply of biological products;
Produce high quality deliverables for clinical research. Design and conduct scientific experiments, collect data, analyze and present results in support of department process development activities;
Elaboration of standard operating procedures and Quality Assurance documentation as required;
Coordinate equipment calibration & Preventative Maintenance in the area of responsibility. Work with Research and Development Quality Assurance for equipment onboarding / qualification;
Collaborate in special projects or other areas within the laboratory as required.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Master's degree or higher in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular biology, or related areas;
Requires at least 3 years of experience for Masters degree and 1 year of experience for PhD;
Outstanding laboratory skills;
Elaboration, planning and execution of experimental protocols scientific report writing, and presentation of data (required);
Outstanding aseptic technique (required);
Expertise in bacterial fermentations, and/or mammalian or insect cell culture in bioreactors, benchtop and pilot scale;
Expertise in process chromatography for biological molecules;
Experience in downstream purification of proteins or nucleic acids.
Work experience in Good Safety Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, current Good Manufacturing Practice environments.
Strong organizational skills, capable of executing tasks independently.
Accomplish milestones, develop contingency plans to overcome obstacles, and meet aggressive deadlines, delivering results with high quality standards.
Detail oriented with ability to analyze scientific data accurately and reliably.
Drive and commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals.
Ability to work with other employees in a positive and constructive way.

High flexibility to work overtime or on weekends when necessary.
