Process Safety Engineer

We are looking for a Process Safety Engineer to achieve and maintain compliance in the area of occupational safety and risk management and process safety management. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.Learn about our community at http://www.visitmcpherson.com, or http://www.gomcpherson.com.You will:Develop and drive standards, plans and systems targeted to achieve company objectives for Loss Control in the areas of Health, Safety, Process Safety, and Employee TrainingDevelop a safety management system that adheres to the Plan, Do, Check, Act and recognized international standards. Responsible for oversight and facilitation of internal and external audits.Develop, implement, and maintain programs compliant with existing PSM and RMP regulations and API recommended practices while enhancing those programs to be compliant with pending revisions to the PSM and RMP regulationsResponsible for DOT/PHMSA Control Room Management for gas and hazardous liquid pipelines regulated under 49 CFR Parts 192 and 195.
Review incidents and near misses, facilitate root cause investigations, monitor corrective action(s) implementation, and measure effectiveness of corrective action(s). Identify and implement or maintain management system tools for tracking incidents and near misses. Support IT in the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the tools that support the Integrated Management System Employ management system tools, including but not limited to TapRoot, ABS Root Cause Mapping, and other internationally recognized methods, to complete root causal analysis (RCA), identify corrective actions/ preventative actions (CAPA), and monitor and measure the effectiveness of the CAPAUtilize management system tools to document, review, and trend incidents and near misses at the CHS McPherson RefineryData mine management system tools to successfully report incident statistics to internal and external stakeholdersSupport the audit function of a management system using available recognized tools
Drive the annual Safety Emphasis Program and other targets specified by CHS through management system developmentContinually seek to improve systematic process for reporting incidents, corrective actions documentation, and closure of incidents and near misses.Track and report process safety performance indicators including ANSI/API RP 754 Tier 1-Tier 4.Maintain accurate and current process safety performance indicators for reporting during quarterly PSM task force meetings and API reporting.Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor's degree in an engineering or engineering technology field from an ABET accredited four-year college or universityMinimum of three years related manufacturing experience developing and enforcing safety programsMust have strong technical background with refinery process knowledgeStrong leadership, communication, organization, attention to detail, and computer skills in MS office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)Working knowledge and application of general occupational safety rules and other identified rules, regulations, codes and standards which include OSHA 1910, 49 CFR, PSM, ISRS, ANSI, ASTM, and NFPAAbility to wear personal protective equipment, including respiratorsPreferred Qualifications: (desired)Five or more years refining or petrochemical industry experience developing and enforcing safety programsExperience implementing and/or maintaining management systems such as OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 14001:2004, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 50001, and or Six SigmaExperience with management system tools including but not limited to TapRoot, ABS Root Cause Mapping, and other internationally recognized methods to complete root cause analysis (RCA), identify corrective actions/preventative actions (CAPA), and monitor and measure the effectiveness of CAPA Ability to complete basic engineering calculations Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, vessel drawings, equipment data sheets, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
