Where the Chemistry Happens
The incumbent will be responsible for the operational and commercial management of the Distribution Network along with the commercial management of all carrier agreements. This includes insuring compliance to BASF EHS standards, operating procedures, business rules, etc. The incumbent will also have delegated procurement authority and will be responsible for identifying and recommending strategic opportunities for both warehousing and transportation.
Formula for Success
Resolve day-to-day operational issues as required (e.g. following Policies & Procedures) related to warehouse, package and terminal operations with help of planners Develop, evaluate and negotiate proposals for new and existing partners for new/revised commercial agreements following procurement and legal proceduresFunction as the Liaison between BU, Site, and the facilities in the region in order to insure consistent message is sent and the Corporation has a single point of contact for that facility.Ensure facilities and carriers in the region adhere to department, BU and corporate objectives as they relate to operations, cost, security, systems support (SAP), EHS, and compliance to local, state and federal regulatory requirements.Implement initiatives through effective Project ManagementIdentify and recommend strategic opportunities (operational and commercial) Select and perform internal and external cost and market comparisons (e.g. cost-benefit analysis and capabilities assessment)Responsible for development and compliance to an annual budget Responsible for ensuring rates at warehouses and carriers are benchmarked and competitive
