Producer Communications Manager
The American Dairy Association North East (ADANE) is the consolidated north east affiliate of the National Dairy Council and the American Dairy Association. ADANE is the regional consolidation of three promotion organizations, the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Inc, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program. It is supported by more than 13,500 dairy farmers in the north east region through the dairy checkoff programs. ADANE is responsible for promoting dairy and its nutritional benefits to 50 million consumers within the region which includes Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and four counties in northern Virginia.The Position: The Industry Communications Manager is responsible for coordinating written and verbal industry-focused communications for American Dairy Association North East. This individual is a skilled journalist and will serve as a reporter for the organization to compile program results, news, and photos from throughout the organization and identify the information that is priority to convey to farmers who fund our programs. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Industry Relations.RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate written communications for dairy farmer and industry audiences including, dairy farmer audiences, board members, key influential producers, dairy princesses, local dairy promoters and dairy advocates. Manages development and distribution of multiple communication vehicles including but not limited to quarterly newsletters, annual report, press releases, articles for targeted industry partners, board memos and board updates. Manages distribution through print, digital, email, website and other channels as needed. Must be a team player who can generate collaboration and work closely with all teams/workgroups within the organization to collect and compile program plans, results, news, and photos from throughout the organization for our target audiences. Communicates with a positive easy-to-understand writing style which create support for dairy checkoff programs. Identifies photos and visuals to support written and digital communications for farmer and industry audiences is required. Create presentations, talking points and handouts for dairy farmer meetings and industry audiences to inform and develop support for ADANE. Manages the farmer/industry-facing sections on ADANE’s website with timely updates and information about checkoff programs and resources available to dairy farmers and advocates. Supports the Industry Relations team by building and maintain positive relationships with dairy farmers throughout the region. Attend and present at dairy farmer and dairy industry meetings to communicate goals and objectives of dairy checkoff and its programs. Develop and maintain relationships with industry communications staff at Dairy Management Inc. (DMI) and other state/regional organizations. Represents ADANE at state, regional and national industry meetings and/or events.The position will be based within the American Dairy Association North East service territory. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in agricultural business, communications, journalism, public relations or a related area. Three to five years of experience in the development and distribution of multi-channel communications materials. Three to five years of professional business writing experience creating compelling and informative communications for targeted audiences. Two to four years of experience creating presentations, talking points and handout materials. Multi-media print journalism and hands on social-media communications experience is required. Proficient business writing editing and proofreading skills are required. Knowledge of dairy industry and agriculture in the American Dairy Association North East service region. Expected to travel throughout the entire American Dairy Association North East service area. Weekend work is occasionally required to cover events. Frequent travel during the week with overnight stay at times is required. Local, regional, multi-state and national traveling is frequently required. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent use of the English Language in verbal and written communication. Speaks with easy and comfort in any public speaking environment. Proven analytical and critical thinking skills. Demonstrates attention to detail and strong organizational abilities. Strong work ethic with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Effective in building positive collaborative work relationships with all teams throughout the organization. Proficient project management skills and sets own priorities. A willingness to embrace change and be flexible to adapt as needed.
