Culture at Nutrien is the core of everything we do and all employees are respectful of diverse opinions and views.This is an hourly position and will report to the Product Distribution General SupervisorKey Tasks:This position performs duties necessary to distribution operation, including maintaining continuous movement of in-bound and outbound rail cars for shipping solid and liquid fertilizer and technical grade acid products to customers and receiving raw materials for solid and liquid fertilizer grade acid production during a 12-hour shift.Skills: Switch Crew Operator I will operate locomotives and control plant switching to facilitate the following: Build the train for shipment based on predetermined shipping schedules, and confirming all documentation is complete before releasing shipments.Receive and sort inbound train. Information related to rail car movement and the surroundings areas is extremely important when coordinating inspections on equipment, structures, or receiving materialsService all departments and organize the railyard daily to improve washing and (un)loading of rail cars.Communicating relating, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from internal departments for shipping and receiving products is important to the daily activities.These activities are essential to cost effective operations and require a strict attention to details to meet its internal and external customer needs. The position requires cognitive skills as well as interpersonal skills to achieve the daily shipping goals. Daily activities include conducting daily inspections, maintaining and operating all support equipment and systems in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The Switch Crew Operator I position requires an individual to possess singular focus for getting the job completed during upset conditions. Must be open to change in a varying work environment like the one you find in and around the rail yard service area.This position requires constant attention to details during all aspects of the daily work plan to prevent accidents, and may require immediate action of the Switch Crew to avoid product losses, as well as, loss of life or environmental upsets from rail car movements in and around the rail yard service area.Understand and follow procedures that have an impact on human safety such as the Lock out / Tag out permitting, Confined Space, and scheduled maintenance repairs. Follow Standard Operation Procedures, Safety, and Environmental Procedures, Work Rules, instructions, and daily work activitiesEssential Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent. Must complete the Nation Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) and meet a minimum of 5 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 4 on Workplace Documents to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien. Must pass a pre-employment exam and drug screening.
