RIGHT NOW.Primary Location: United States (US) – Iowa (US-IA) – Dubuque Function: Product EngineeringTitle: Product Engineering Part Time Student – Dubuque, IA – 47335 Your ResponsibilitiesAs a Structural Analysis part time student engineer, for the John Deere Construction & Forestry Division, located in Dubuque, IA, you will perform structural analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) to verify Construction & Forestry equipment structures. In addition, you will:Follow documented process to complete structural analysis activities.Recommend and evaluate design solutions to improve cost, manufacturing, quality and performance.With assistance (from more senior engineers) develop analysis plans, execute and document projects.Work with structural evaluation (test) engineers and learn test processes.Learn and apply company engineering processes, procedures and practices and learn about company products. What It TakesKnowledge in engineering statics and mechanics of materials theory. Ability to work independently and in teams.Ability to effectively communicate results to stakeholders.Pursuing a four-year degree in a Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalentMust be registered as a full-time student at a local universityMust be able to commute to the work location on a daily basisGraduation date of May 2020 or later Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above16 – 20 hours/week during the academic year35 – 40 hours/week during the summer semester A strong candidate will also havePast experience in structural analysis projectsCompleted courses in Dynamics, Finite Element Theory, and/or Advanced Engineering Mechanics Experience in 3D modeling and Finite element software.
