Product Inspector (Food Group – Moses Lake, WA)

We currently have a position available at our Moses Lake Plant. Moses Lake offers a moderate climate along with numerous parks and recreational opportunities. SUMMARYThis position is responsible for evaluating the raw product coming from the peeler and leaving the trim area, ensuring the product is free from gross defects and all foreign material. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the Product Inspect/Trim function area and make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.
RESPONSIBILITIESMust become qualified within 45 working days of employment in this position.Performs all stripping duties.Removes foreign material and/or defects as described in posted instructions.Sorts potatoes for scrubbing or halving as needed and trims potatoes in an efficient manner minimizing waste, trimming potatoes at a speed meeting expected standards.Utilizes computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information and ensures that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.May assist in training other personnel.Maintains Company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs.Works within safety rules and regulations in actively avoiding injury to self and others.Ensures proper food safety sanitation and cleaning procedures of all packaging equipment and systems.Ensures self-compliance with Company policies and plant procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Maintains necessary level of communication with team members and other support groups and does so in a participative management style conducive with operational goals.Ensures that additional accountabilities required by management are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational standards.Disclaimer – The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
