Product Specialist – Feed Mixer Technologies
The Product Specialist is responsible for the management of product life cycles of current products, the analysis of future business opportunities involving new products, developing and delivering product training, and acting as the Company product expert for assigned product lines, assisting dealers/customers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.? Other duties may be assigned.Identify and analyze business opportunities involving possible new products or current product line extensions.Represent the customer voice in all product development and marketing projects by continual involvement with customers during direct interviews, dealer events and training.Identify competition s products, distribution system, market shares, pricing, strengths, and weaknesses and track them on a continuous basis.Continually investigate potential product improvements, enhancements, and features to the current product line to respond to changing customer and market demands.Monitor external research and regulatory activities (universities, government, etc.) that may alter future trends and requirements.Recommend product specifications for new products and product upgrades to product development teams throughout the design and evaluation phase.Participate on Product Offering Process (POP) and New Product Implementation (NPI) teams related to assigned product lines.Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, Engineering and Manufacturing departments to bring new products and/or improved products to the market on a timely basis.Assist in the review of design, testing, and planning with Design Engineering and Production Evaluation departments.In combination with Training personnel, develop, coordinate and present product training for Kuhn internal Sales personnel, Territory Managers and dealers at sales meetings, field demonstrations, trade shows, etc.Work with the Senior Product Manager and Marketing Manager to develop marketing plans and promotional materials for new products and product improvements, and draft Sales bulletins for product change releases.Review all special quote requests from the field and assist in determining what requests warrant further action.Conduct follow-up reviews of new products that have recently been introduced to the market to insure the product that was designed meets our customer s needsSupport the sales organization by working select farm shows, including setting-up and tearing down of displays, answering product questions for customers, and assisting with field demonstrations of product.Support Technical and Sales teams by answering specialized questions over the phone regarding product functions and applications, and travel to dealer/customer sites to provide technical support on product usage.Develop and update pricing based on market conditions, competition, available features, and margins. Forward pricing calculations to Senior Product Manager for review.Assist in the creation and production process of the price book for assigned product lines.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.? Extensive application knowledge and experience in word processing (Word), spreadsheet applications (Excel), database management (Lotus Notes), presentation software (PowerPoint), planning (Project), Internet, and e-mail is required.Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.? Ability to write and edit formal business correspondence based on verbal summary or outline.? Ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization, as well as external contacts, and with people of different cultures/languages.? Good telephone reception skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, and decimals.? Capable of converting from standard measures to metric measures.Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions.? Ability to deal with problems involving several abstract and concrete variables in various situations and assume responsibility for the result of the decision.Skills/Abilities – Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including computer and telephone/voice mail systems, fax machine, and copier.? Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize tasks to meet required deadlines.?
