Production Chemical Engineer
Position Purpose:The Production Chemical Engineer is responsible for leading the operations of the Global Edible Oil Solutions refinery and terminal. These duties include, but are not limited to, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), achieving quality and food safety standards, managing costs, and process optimization. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in management activities, such as planning and developing strategic actions to achieve short and midterm goals. Principal Accountabilities: 25% Develop and execute strategic and tactical action plans related to operation activities of the plant, process engineering and/or project engineering20% Initiate and lead troubleshooting, problem solving and optimization activities outside the assigned area15% Responsible for EHS and Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) compliance within respective area of responsibility. Develop standard operating procedures and lead training to ensure quality and efficiency goals are achieved. Accountable for department budget expenses and usage to remain within budget10% Leadership: Build employee engagement through positive working relationships and teamwork. Coach, develop people and promote an innovative and open atmosphere where employees are encouraged to collaborate and offer ideas10% Investigate, design, write and complete small and medium sized capital and expense jobs (typically <$500K)10% Directly responsible for coordinating maintenance activities with engineering and maintenance functions with respect to production planning10% Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Skills: Required QualificationsBachelors Degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or degree in comparable area3+ years experience in industrial processing in the food industry1+ project management or equivalencyAble to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal functions (maintenance, sales, logistics, accounting), contractors, suppliers, auditors and customersAble to develop employee accountability and engagement in a teamwork environmentAble to appropriately set prioritiesAble to conduct business in accordance with Cargill values and ethics3+ years experience in applying policies and procedures in the areas of safety, environment, health and food safetyPrimarily day shift in a plant environment with some off-hours responsibilitiesRoutine physical activity including standing, walking, typing, climbing, lifting, light outside work and occasional confined spacesAbility to travel occasionally as required (typically less than 15% of time to other North America Cargill facilities)Preferred QualificationsChemical Engineering DegreeExperience with Lean/Continuous Improvement activitiesBilingual English/SpanishApply for this job.
