This is a BASF position to lead technical functions related to operation of the ACM production unit. Technical business needs include process optimization and debottlenecking, capital project support, process automation, asset utilization and maintenance.The BASF ACM production unit is co-located on a third-party site (Evonik Industries) to produce an intermediate for the herbicide Glufosinate Ammonium, GA. The Evonik site is a fully developed site with medium to large scale processes in place. BASF manages all aspects of operation of the BASF ACM plant, with operators, utilities and services provided by Evonik, and therefore the incumbent must be capable of managing 3rd party (Evonik & contract) personnel.Formula for Success: You Will? Strategic? Be responsible for development and implementation of an Asset Management plan for the plant.? Be responsible for scope and planning of capital projects, development of the required mid to long term capital plan, and interface to project teams in definition and implementation phase of projects? Be responsible for turnaround planning and management? Drive process optimization and debottlenecking, troubleshooting, parameter, quality, and cost optimization? Support plant modifications in the production process; owns management of change process? Serve as focal point for plant trials and debottlenecking studies.? Work with automation/PCT engineer to ensure automation improvements and implementation of best practice automation approaches including Process Information Management system, alarm management effectiveness and targeted reporting.? Interface with AP Global Technology and BASF Regional Service Centers. Execution? Lead automation/PCT, maintenance, contractor, and project resources? Direct Operations team as needed ? Support maintenance in implementation of asset reliability and mechanical integrity improvement plans? Capture plant asset effectiveness data and reports and suggest improved processes based on the data? Provide technical training on unit chemistry, processing steps, and process optimization for operators and service providers.? Provide troubleshooting support, including on-call support EH&S? Facilitate process safety including PSM, Evonik and BASF requirements? Be a role model for EH&S excellence? Provide input to regulatory and BASF environmental reporting? Manage safety instrumented systems, testing, and bypass procedures? Oversee safety investigations, management of change, mechanical integrity and other elements of PSM.? Drive EHS continuous improvement Qualifications ? BS/MS in engineering (chemical preferred) or chemistry with 5+ years in operations? Capital project management, and asset reliability/ asset management experience a plus? Proven continuous improvement and process optimization results? Leadership qualities with strong interpersonal skills? Demonstrate initiative and ability to work in a team-based environment? Aptitude for technical/problem solving in complex systems?
