In the Automation Engineering Production Group, we build, test, and deploy this next generation automated laboratory and field equipment. As a Production Project Lead Engineer within the Automation Engineering Production team, you???ll be leading a team of internal and external resources in the scaled production of automated field and laboratory equipment. You???ll be representing the Production team in the cross-functional development of this equipment, with the responsibility of taking this equipment from an R&D prototype to production reality.Responsibilities include the following:Representing the Production group on cross-functional product development teams. This includes reviewing the design for manufacturability, assessing the magnitude of the manufacturing effort needed for the project, planning and scheduling resources accordingly, and reporting build status back to the team.Leading Design for Manufacturability efforts on existing projects to cut cost and increase reliability.Leading a team of assembly resources in the fabrication phase of development projects with the goal of ensuring a timely and quality build.Planning and supervising subassembly testing, first article testing, and site acceptance testing.Working with our internal machine shop to ensure that parts are available in a timely manner.Selecting and managing external vendors on outsourced assembly projects.Working with the design engineers to ensure that the drawing packages are production-ready by assuring that there are sufficient assembly drawings and checking for correct application of GD&T principles.Identifying new ways to improve assembly efficiency and quality in a low-volume, fast-paced, highly diverse production environment.Leading the development of user???s manuals and training programs for service personnel and equipment end-users.Qualifications:Required skills/experience include:B.S. or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum 5 years experience required, 7+ years experience preferred in development and production of automated equipment for laboratory, production, and/or agricultural field environments.Experience contributing to and leading multiple concurrent projects with shifting prioritiesExperience in defining an assembly schedule based on project complexity and successfully leading a team to accomplish it.Experience in qualifying and managing external production partners in the fabrication of automated equipment.Experience in reviewing drawings for production readiness and manufacturability including adherence to proper GD&T principles.Experience in developing technical service documentation and technical training.Key competencies required for this position include a strong mechanical aptitude, confidence in communicating with all levels, a high degree of organization and efficiency, strong drive, excellent team skills, ability to motivate others to achieve results, customer focus, and innovative problem solving skills.Additional required competencies include familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and robotics and the ability to interpret mechanical and electrical CAD drawings.Desired skills/experience include:Experience with SolidWorks for Mechanical drawings, AutoCAD Electrical for electrical drawings, and Microsoft Project for project planning.Experience in the design and production of 3D printed parts and injection molded parts.Apply for this job.
