Our Cargill Salt business produces, packages and ships salt for a wide range of market segments: Agricultural Food Water conditioning Industrial Chemical and packaged ice control We operate more than 20 manufacturing, processing and warehousing locations that make salt from three major production methods: Mechanical evaporation at facilities in the U.S. in California, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, New York and Ohio Solar evaporation and harvesting from ponds in California, Oklahoma, Utah, Bonaire in the Dutch Antilles, and Los Olivitos, Venezuela Rock salt mining from underground mines in Louisiana, New York and Ohio Cargill Salt services a variety of customers ranging from home improvement, hardware, grocery, and convenience store retailers, to food makers/processors, water conditioning dealers, and foodservice and general wholesale distribution. Position Purpose This position within the Salt BU supervises and develops direct reports, leads safety and process efficiency initiatives, training and site capital and expense projects. The position implements and executes all production processes within a single people intensive department and/or highly technical processes, or shift and ensures areas of responsibilities meet BU/Plant standards for safety, quality, efficiency and financial performance. This position works closely with the location?s supervisors and superintendents, departments, EHS managers, QA department, office personnel and plant management to achieve goals set by the BU/plant. Principal Accountabilities 40% Coach, train and provide management support to team leads and production employees to achieve their individual, department and location?s goals by directly supervising daily operations of assigned area to achieve production throughput requirements including work flow, job assignments, scheduling, shift coverage, etc. Also applies disciplinary action when needed. 20% Develop and implement capital and expenses projects that support location goals, administers production budget for a department, process, or shift, executes purchase orders and ensures timely payment of invoices, and is accountable for compliance with department non-base capital investment plans. 20% Directly monitors production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within specifications and facilitates site communication through outreach and leadership with Production Supervisors, departments, shifts, and BU functions to meet customer specifications and timeline. 20% Executes day-to-day operations of assigned area, ensuring direct reports are following policies and procedures related to employee safety and food safety, including: – Cargill/State/Federal/Environmental regulations and guidelines – Health & Safety – Air emissions – Storm water management – Security – Housekeeping This position shall have the responsibility to report problems with the food safety management system to identified person(s). This position has the responsibility and authority to initiate and record actions.
