Production Technician – #01RR3
Production Technician The Production Technician will be responsible of operating machinery / equipment for the production process; ensuring that the production process happens safely, effectively and with quality in alignment with general procedures of the area. You will be expected to mentor new employees, perform basic maintenance of equipment and handle basic activities in Monsanto systems (SAP and electronic networks) commonly used in production processes. Responsibilities of the Position:Operate chemical process/packaging equipment and systems utilizing real-time data / technology in own area with process control adjustment and alignment with existing SOPs, promoting standardization and ensuring efficient production processesProvide standardized training and mentoring to area trainees and peers to support the achievement of everyone???s personal development goalsEnsure all upstream activities to production process are handled within company standards and business requirements following standard work processes and adhering to safety, quality and environmental standardsManage partnerships with key plant business partners, including suppliers and customers. Provide support in administrative procedures, documenting key readings, maintenance orders and production information utilizing SAPAssist in the preparation, review, and approval of key process documentation (operating, start-up and shut-down procedures; process flow and instrumentation diagrams; etc.)Troubleshoot problems associated with equipment, processes, and systems Performs preventive maintenance and inspections; troubleshooting problems associated with equipment, processes, and systems as neededDemonstrate knowledge of and adherence to Monsanto???s Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards (e.g. general shop floor/machine safety and operating procedures) Comply with internal procedures and support compliance with legal requirements applicable to area activitiesNotify leadership as needed when non-conformities in product or process variance occur or safety related issues occur or are avoided.Responsible for keeping metrics and other relevant information current on visual boards to drive teamwork and facilitate shift change overCollaborate with peers and across shifts to drive performance improvementSupport the plant in driving 5S practices to maintain an environment conducive to work.Lead DDS (Daily Direction Setting) meetingsEngage in continuous improvement programs and identify opportunities to improve performance in accordance with production area, site and Monsanto goalsUtilize Focused Improvement (e.g., 5WHYs) techniques to initiate process and work instructions (WIs) improvementsCoach others on safety, manufacturing standards, work processes and Lean practicesLoading /unloading of railcars, loading/unloading of trailersConducting process equipment isolationIssuing work permits to contractors and monitor progress and conditions of contractor work Qualifications:Qualifications for the Position:Functional Competencies/Skills: Foundational Lean Manufacturing, ESH & Quality Compliance: Demonstrates knowledge of Monsanto???s Functional standards (e.g. general shop floor/machine safety and operating procedures). Follows site policies, uses site resources responsibly and supports others in their workOperational Efficiency: Executes manufacturing processes to hit operational efficiency targets, identifies areas of improvement and implements solutionsTechnical Competence: Completes assigned tasks while continuously developing the technical skills required in his/her roleCustomer Focus: Understands how his/her role impacts the final product our customers and communities receive Required Experience:High School DegreeBasic knowledge of IT (Internet, Excel, PPT, and Word) Desired Experience:Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment with a 24/7 rotating shift schedule, including overtime as neededExperience operating a fork truckExperience working with HHM (Highly Hazardous Materials) desiredGood mechanical and troubleshooting skills. Basic understanding of maintenance and E&I disciplines a plus with the ability to read and understand engineering flow diagrams (EFD) is helpful.Fundamental understanding of chemical manufacturing process with the ability to learn a highly technical chemical process and maintain proficiency.Intermediate computer skills with experience using of SAP and PLCThree to five years manufacturing experience, with experience in chemical or row crop manufacturing preferred Specific Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:The requirements for this position involve the willingness to work in a variety of areas (control room, plant, and warehouse) including frequent walking and standing. This can include frequent work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions. Position requires willingness to climb with the ability to perform elevated work utilizing portable ladders and fall protection equipment. Use of a Full-Face Respirator / Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, and Level-A Suit required for work with Highly Hazardous Materials, if applicable. Position involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting up to 60 lbs. Overtime hours including weekend work required as needed to support the business needs.Apply for this job.
