Under direction, the Assistant Manager will work with the Farmers' Market Manager in the coordination and the promotion of the day-to-day activities of the City's Farmers' Markets and Community Gardens programs. Hours: The Program Coordinator must be able to work on Tuesdays and Saturdays, beginning at 6:00 a.m. on those days. This position will be required to work flexible hours, including but not limited to evenings and weekends. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSCompletion of one year of coursework within a recreation-related specialty, fine arts, or a related field, or one year of specific and substantial full-time experience which prepares one to function in this position may be substituted for the required year of education.Related part-time experience will be credited in proportion to the average amount of time worked per year.License and/or CertificatesA valid Class C California Driver's License Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate, in addition to the minimum requirements, will possess:At least one year of recent experience working at a Certified Farmers' Market or coordinating a large public event;Ability to handle cash payments, count change, and reconcile cash reports;Proven success in managing projects and programs;Responsive to shifting priorities;Creative problem solving skills and ability to multitask;Strong organizational skills;Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including frequent contact with a diverse community;Exceptional customer service;Highly enthusiastic; andInterest in food production, gardening, sustainability, and community.
