Project Engineer Clinton, IA ADM Clinton IA Corn ProcessingThis is an exempt level position.Position Summary: Project Engineer to manage capital projects to improve the operation of the Clinton Corn Plant. Oversee the design and implementation of capital projects. This includes identifying & evaluating project opportunities, requesting authorization for projects as well as designing, installing and commissioning approved projects. Utilize engineering skills to improve operations processes including reliability, yields and operability.Job Responsibilities:Ensure stewardship of viable capital projects from inception to commissioning. Effective management of personnel and resources to balance schedules, budgets, and scope/quality of a projectWork closely with other project engineers, site project coordinators, contractors, process engineers and operations personnelProvide oversight of construction personnel during the course of the project by working in the field on a daily basisManage project budgets and resources Written and verbal communication of project activities and key metrics shall be provided to managers and other stakeholdersSize equipment, develop equipment lists, estimate costs, and other front end engineering tasksParticipate in process hazard analysis, contractor safety, and productivity improvementsProactively participate in safety, environment, quality and production processes in order to ensure compliance with all company policies and proceduresMaintain an awareness of industry trends and investigate the means by which projects can be improved, implemented, and managed (includes capturing lessons learned and developing best practices ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures)Develop colleagues through training, technical support, and mentoring opportunitiesWork in plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions from management Job Requirements: Promotes the ADM Way and Core ValuesAbility to manage a diverse teamAble to communicate with all levels of the organizationMinimum of Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or related disciplineMinimum 10 years of production and/or capital project experienceMust be able to apply engineering competencies to practical real world situationsEmployee will help design process systems and equipment required for the production of company productsGeneral knowledge of codes, relevant standards, and materials/metallurgy related to industrial equipment.Knowledge of industrial chemical plant processes and related systems such as: pressure vessels, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, utilities and other unit operations is desired.Strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills are necessary to be a valued colleague in this facility. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict, motivating personnel as well as instructing and training personnel. The candidate must be able to effectively interact with multiple employees and managers. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage personnel, budgets, schedules and other resources.Excellent communication skills both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position. Must be able to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks, and strive for continuous improvement.General knowledge of software systems such as Maximo, Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Powerpoint, Word and SharePoint), Aspen and CAD. Physical Requirements: Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to spend long periods in the plant to observe plant and equipment.
