Protein Biochemist – #01R06
We are seeking highly a motivated individual to join our Regulatory Protein Technology organization. This team is responsible for a broad set of activities including a focus on the discovery, design and stewardship of the proteins in the company's products. The Protein Biochemist will participate in the identification of our needs for protein-based information, including issues of regulatory or legal significance. In addition, the position will identify areas where protein-based skills and information are needed across the company, and provides the necessary assistance to meet those needs. The Regulatory Protein Technology organization is a fast-paced, timeline-driven, team environment that requires researchers to contribute at the individual level on group-based projects. This individual will have the opportunity to conduct research on cutting edge biotechnology to ensure that it reaches regulatory approval so that it can directly provide positive impacts towards agriculture. Key Responsibilities: Performing the expression of recombinant proteins in bacterial cells or other expression systems. Developing and optimizing protein purification procedures from plant tissues, and bacterial or insect cells. Developing and validating enzyme assays. Performing protein characterization using a panel of analytical methods. Performing data documentation and preparation of reports. Managing studies under GLP requirements. Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience: Minimum of Master???s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field of study. Minimum of five or more years of relevant work experience (industry or academic). Technical knowledge and hands on experience of protein expression, purification and protein analytical techniques. Proven track record of being able to work with strict deadlines in a highly demanding and dynamic environment. Ability to handle multiple projects at one time. Excellent written communication, data documentation, and oral presentation skills. Desired Skill/Experience: PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field of study. Strong experience in modern molecular biology techniques. Familiarity with plant physiology and biochemistry. Experience working with plant-derived proteins. Experience programming and operating automated systems. Experience leading small teams and advising of protein production/purification workflows.
