Job Title: Pulse/Grain BuyerDepartment: PulseReports To: Facility ManagerFLSA Status: Exempt SUMMARY –Work with local manager and other Columbia Grain employees regarding origination of product. OUR COMPANY – A leader in Pacific Northwest grain and pulse markets, focused on customer satisfaction. Columbia Grain, International, LLC was formed in 1978 to create a superior source of western grain and pulses for domestic and export markets. Our goal has been to develop an advanced grain and pulse trading organization, not only in terms of storage and shipping, but also in quality and reliability of our information and products. With customer satisfaction as our goal, we are one of the leaders in marketing U.S. agricultural products. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Responsible for procurement, contracting and harvest transportation of pulses, grain and other products.Assist with the logistics that may include off site storage at other locations.Buying products for any of the regions locations as the opportunity arises. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to five years grain handling experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE AND COMPUTER SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as company procedures and manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other employees. Computer literate and keyboard skills are necessary. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure (bushels, short tons, metric tons and CWT) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ten-key by touch is recommended. REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
