Purina Animal Nutrition Feed Sales Lifestyle Product Specialist – Equine, Show & Companion Animal

The Lifestyle Product Specialist will focus primarily on; horse, show, and companion animal feed sales. This position offers consultative sales techniques which are utilized by calling on animal owners within the assigned market area to evaluate and assist them with their nutritional program; the position also involves organizing and conducting effective educational meetings for saddle clubs, vet, trainers, livestock show clubs, 4-H clubs etc… to enhance brand image and sell product. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing approximately 25 farm calls per week, develop and maintain a customer prospect list and annually grow sales and market share in the above categories.
Required (Basic) Experience & Education:
Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, a closely related field or equivalent experience.
Required Competencies & Other Skills:
This Position requires excellent verbal and written communication, focus, along with strong organization and time management skills. Success in this position requires high internal drive, a natural ability for relationship building, and leadership in a team environment. Candidate has a passion for performance horses and show animals. Solid background and basic command of animal nutrition is a plus, along with Strong Computer skills,
including proficiency in MS Office. Must have intermediate computer skills and be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Experience & Education:
Strong background and previous professional experience with Equine, Show, and Lifestyle animals, and has competed at a very high level with both horse and/or show animals.
Preferred Competencies & Other Skills:
Candidate has strong Public Speaking Skills. Currently is involved with Show or horse enthusiasts that have influence in the market.
Percentage of Travel:
15% over night travel, in addition to daily travel in the assigned geography.
