Position Purpose: The Livestock Production Specialist
Swine position is responsible to sell feed and all related products in a manner that will optimize the cooperatives/dealers market share and savings, improve the cooperatives/dealers efficiency, help achieve the cooperatives/dealers mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service. This is done by providing excellent counsel with market Swine Producers to improve their bottom line returns in partnership with the Cooperative/Dealer. Skills:
Required (Basic) Experience & Education: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, a closely related discipline or equivalent experience. The candidate must possess industry knowledge (animal husbandry, current management practices, and nutritional guidelines), and general market knowledge.
Required Competencies & Other Skills: Successful candidate should be competent to have basic command of nutritional and management recommendations to livestock owners in the market. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required along with strong organization and time management skills. Success in this position requires high internal drive, a natural ability for relationship building, and leadership in a team environment. Computer skills, specifically MS Office, plus the ability to be trained on ration balancing software, etc. Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Experience & Education: Candidates with an Advanced Degree, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in industry demonstrating the capability to improve
livestockperformance through teamwork at the farm, and utilizing other influential(s) to grow business.
Preferred Competencies & Other Skills: Hands on experience withlivestock production or consultation with a minimum of 2 years experience is preferred in retail feed sales, livestock nutrition, marketing, and the execution of growth plans with proven success.
Percentage of Travel: 15% over night travel, in addition to daily travel in the assigned geography.
