Your major responsibilities as a Quality Assurance Specialist are as follows:Manage company global seed lot risk through thorough assessment of quality factors and testing parameters including seed lots from foundation to commercial status;Responsible for the following key quality control processes: Quality control tests to be conducted (what and how functionally). Additional Processing actions (reconditioning, blending, disinfection, resampling); First line decision if new seeds lots should be purchased or rejected; Seed lot risk assessment – Evaluate new Quality Control test results and determine seed lot risk through a thorough assessment of quality factors and testing parameters;Communicate possible risks associated with the sale of seed lots to Supply Chain Specialist and Crop Sales Manager to minimize liability;Determine if supplier contracts for new crop seed lots should be paid after quality evaluation (Advice for Payment);Analyze relevant quality data in order to approve proposed seed lot blends;Recommend for further quality improvement actions (disinfection, blending, reconditioning);Decide which seed lots in inventory need to be resampled;Support and monitor the development and implementation of new and appropriate technologies, developed by the Operations Technology Department;Seed quality standards and process flow charts Implement, maintain and internally communicate company seed quality standards for responsible crops based on information from the Global Quality and Processing Manager in order to maintain global company standards;Implement, maintain, and internally communicate process flow charts indicating all major process functions, timing of processes, and the quality samples that will be taken after each major process in order to maintain global consistency;Field performance and test results – Analyze field performance and test results in order to discuss and communicate risk analysis of seed performance with Sales. Inspect seed production fields to determine if they conform to quality protocols. Steer the implementation of “Good Agricultural Practices” and Stewardship guidelines within all Operations departments to minimize the risk of seed contamination;Quality Management System – Maintain and update NAL accredited procedures, work instructions and annexes in order to ensure QA standards, global standardization and NAL accreditation are maintained.Complaint handling – For assigned crop, coordinate the regional customer complaint handling process to ensure proper investigation and communication of information. Investigate customer complaints on-site and participate in the CAPA process;Monthly reporting – Through continual communication and distribution of monthly reports, inform Regional Head of QA of on-going crop issues and concerns. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture/Horticulture or related field with 5+ years’ experience in the seed business, preferably in a seed quality assurance area;Knowledge of seed health, seed physiology, production, and operational techniques used within the company;Good people management skills;Strong analytical skills;Pro-active decision-making;Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
