UPDATED: 9/27/2018 QUALIFICATIONS: – 10-15 years ranch industry- Need 3-5 years in management of 500+ cows- Experience with purebred cattle is a plus, but not required- Solid cow/calf ranch background- Excellent animal health skills- Team player/motivator- Good hay and irrigation background- Handle maintenance and general repair- Needs an outstanding person with good ranch operations and management background, including multiple employees and range experience- Need to be a good communicator with both employees and management JOB DESCRIPTION: Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for an experienced Ranch Manager for this absentee Wyoming beef producer. This is a WORKING MANAGER POSITION. Need 3-5 years in management. Manager will have direct husbandry duties and leading other production employees. Needs to be self-motivated and able to motivate others. Practical experience with herd management, nutrition, equipment, asset management, property maintenance and management are required.Ranch Manager Responsibilities include:- Hay Production & Irrigation operations and management- Health: Nutrition, vaccination protocols, doctoring/diagnosing, breeding, calving, proper tagging, commercial herd, maintain cattle records, culling etc.- Improvements: Maintain corrals, sheds and other buildings, fences, roads, maintain trucks, equipment, build/implement new improvements- Cattle Movement: Move/keep cattle where they are supposed to be, riding, range health, manage for excellent up-trending range health, keep grazing chart record – Financial: help draft annual operating budget, stay within budget, labor management, lead/direct employees, manage part time, seasonal, & day help. Managing with a TEAM approach, creating a positive environment, meet with Management to review progress on goals, actuals vs. budget etc. – Innovate: Be progressive minded with a willingness to adopt improved methods of beef productionThe ranch is located in southeast Wyoming with good access to paved roads.Climate and terrain-The ranch is at an elevation of approximately 7,000 ft. The terrain of the ranch is generally flat.The climate is very dry with annual moisture being approximately 10-15 inches. Summers are short and mild with high temperatures rarely entering the 90's. Extremely harsh winter weather occurs between November and May, with nighttime temperatures sometimes falling well below -20.Community-The ranching community in the valley is small but friendly. They have maintained good relations with all of the neighbors. A small public grade school is located within a mile of the main ranch house.Excellent K-12 public school, grocery stores, a movie theater, many restaurants, churches, and a well maintained downtown area.
