QUALIFICATIONS: – 3-6 years' experience in an Ag-related field- Permanent crop experience required- Ag-related college degree preferred- Valid Driver's License- Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office software, email, internet, spreadsheets – Good diagnostic and decision-making skills – Experience leading production and administrative crew- Proven ability to effectively communicate verbal & written skills- PCA certification (highly preferred) JOB DESCRIPTION: Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Ranch Manager for larger Orchard production operation in the central valley of California. This position will be directly responsible for all agronomy of approximately 6,500 acres of permanent crops and the development of future acquisitions. May hire, train, or supervise farm workers or contract for services to carry out the day-to-day activities of the orchard health maintenance. Supervise and review irrigation scheduling, crop nutrition, cultivating, and harvest timing. Scout crops and identify pests, includes making recommendations on treatment and suggesting products or other methods to control or prevent problems to the Director of Agronomy. This position will report to both the Director of Agronomy and Operations. The primary responsibility of the candidate will be to:- Coordinate the daily operations of maintaining healthy productive orchards and/or vineyards.- Implement and track budgeted plans including:- Irrigation- Fertility & Pest Management – Quality Control- Direct and coordinate worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting timing, and bee coordination.- Inspect orchards or fields to determine crop maturity or condition or to detect disease or insect infestation and develop a corrective action plan.- Monitor activities such as irrigation, chemical application, harvesting to ensure adherence to safety regulations or standards- Attend relevant and local water district meetings and:- Track SGMA- Track Water Account balances- Track and report on new regulatory issues- Communicate with management on orchard health- Oversee the equipment maintenance personal- Direct and coordinate the daily activities of mechanics. Provide technical and administrative assistance and guidance as needed. Prioritize and schedule jobs.
