CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Rail Services group. We are looking for a Rate Analyst to provide rail rate and analytical services that meet the objectives of internal and external customers on CHS? Agronomy business unit. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential.
You will: Maintain rail rates and rail rate databases to ensure accurate data and keep customers informed of changes.Monitor, analyze and modify rate information and distribute to internal stakeholders.Monitor and provide analysis of various rates and rate relationships to ensure market competitiveness to maximize value to CHS.Expedite requests for new rates and current rate analysis to ensure timely execution for customers.Rate daily shipments timely and accurately and communicate cost savings alternatives.Negotiate new rates and provide professional analysis of current rate structures as necessary. Suggest improvements to both in house systems and railroad systems for transfer and receiving of rates. Assist with rate analysis and rate negotiation related to business/marketing opportunities.Serve as a consultant/expert related to various transportation and rate issues and situations.Participate in developing strategies to achieve better time utilization by helping create systems that streamline and automate rate transfer. Work with internal and external customers to ensure timely and accurate execution of all rate related activities.Interface regularly with internal merchants and customers to effective underrate rail rate transportation needs and pertinent information needed for them to be successful.Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor?s degree (additional years of related transportation or rate analytics experience may offset degree requirement)3 plus years of experience in a rate analytical role, or rail transportation Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Preferred Qualifications: (desired)Bachelor?s degree in economics, statistics, math, transportation or similar businessSeveral Class I railroad contacts established (BNSF, CP, UP)Experience with rail tariffs and rating of rail shipmentsKnowledge of fertilizer, grain and/or energy commodity and/or trading rulesKnowledge of and Ship Express Software and SAP Transportation moduleSequel and/or Python programming
