Plan and direct all phases of daily receiving operations, including: unloading, inventory verification, and put-away. Effectively communicate with distribution center management team to review daily inbound shipments. Plan schedules for unloading, verification and put-away. Create unloading, verification and put-away assignments for receiving team members, taking individual skill sets into account for maximum productivity. *
Oversee unloading and verification of inbound shipments. Designate locations at loading dock for unloading and breaking down pallets of newly received merchandise. Monitor verification procedures to ensure accuracy and to assist with issue resolution. Sign bill of lading once merchandise verification is complete. Process damaged or off-quality merchandise with inventory control counterparts or complete freight claims according to facility procedures. May occasionally drive forklifts to unload trailers. *
Check product commits in JD Edwards system to determine whether products are short-term or long-term inventory and assign storage location. Monitor put-away operations and review team performance. Update put-away assignments and reassign team members based on anticipated volume of deliveries. Prioritize and assign tasks accordingly for maximum efficiency and accuracy. Rely on knowledge of facility and team performance to expedite unloading, verification and put-away processes. Communicate productivity metrics to receiving team. *
Troubleshoot complex issues that arise during unloading, verification and put-away processes. Investigate conditions and merchandise by checking computer systems and physical inventory. Resolve product discrepancies and process damaged merchandise according to established facility procedures. Communicate with customers and SSC counterparts as necessary to provide updates and resolution. *
Coordinate with the distribution center superintendent on receiving team development. Provide input on warehouse staffing plan to meet production goals and seasonal volume projections. Interview and select warehouse employees and temporary staff. Utilize reporting to monitor and track production metrics. Recognize accomplishments and encourage team work. Administer corrective action as necessary and in coordination with management team. *
Develop and maintain open lines of communication with receiving team members. Hold daily start-up meetings. Listen to suggestions and determine appropriate actions. Establish clear performance standards for the receiving team. Communicate performance expectations, provide regular coaching and feedback as well as on-the-job training to individuals and groups. Effectively demonstrate skills and communicate technical information. *
Partner with Distribution Center Superintendent to increase associate engagement. Provide input to develop and revise goals and objectives. Recommend actions to remove productivity and performance barriers and promote a positive work environment. *
Lead daily cycle count of inventory in coordination with shipping supervisor. Assign team members to perform accurate physical counts of products and reconcile with data storage systems. Create storage locations for merchandise not listed in computer systems and update systems accordingly. *
Monitor facility and equipment to identify maintenance needs and notify Maintenance Supervisor. Regularly communicate facility Housekeeping Plan requirements to receiving team members. Rotate team member assignments to allow appropriate time for housekeeping duties. Serve as an example by maintaining a clean and orderly work area. *
Support facility compliance with all government regulations, Southern States Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, work rules and policies for warehousing, material handling and receiving of facility goods and products. Regularly review safety procedures and promote safe work practices with receiving team members. Work safely as to not cause harm to yourself, co-workers, equipment, or inventory. *
May occasionally perform various receiving functions to support operations during periods of excessive volume or other critical business need. Coordinate with the Distribution Center Superintendent and Shipping Supervisor to support shipping operations during periods of critical business need. *
May assume additional duties in the absence of the Distribution Center Superintendent. *
Perform all other job functions as assigned.A combination of completed coursework and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in business management or related field; specialization in distribution, supply chain management and/or logistics a plus. Experience: Requires (3) years of work experience in a distribution environment with cross training in various operations including shipping and receiving.
Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a warehouse lead role.
Southern States Cooperative experience a plus.
