Regional Manufacturing Technology Engineer

Position Purpose & SummaryThe Regional Starches and Specialties Manufacturing
Technology Engineer is a leader in continuous, technical improvement and in sustainment
for the Corn Wet Milling, Texturizing, and Specialty sites in the U.S. and
South America, as well as a key collaborator with global starches, texturizing,
and specialties sites.? This would
include working with product lines and associated technologies such as corn
starch processing, vegetable protein processing, lecithin processing, and
Vitamin E processing.? As part of a cross
functional team including R&D, QA, Operations, Product Line Management, MT,
and Strategic Sourcing, this role will also deliver on business strategy and
optimization projects.? This position is
to be located at a production facility.?
As a technical expert, the Regional MT engineer will guide:
Manufacturing Technology Design & CapabilityManufacturing Technology EducationTalent DevelopmentManufacturing Technology Innovation Road MappingManufacturing Technology Performance?Principal Accountabilities25%?? Technology Performance – Optimize:? Optimize current operations by leading
efforts to identify value creation opportunities.? Take action(s) to drive implementation of
value creation initiatives through the Accelerated Continuous Improvement
system both at the site and regional levels.?
Champion the use of continuous improvement and data-driven decision
making tools.? Lead the sites in
monitoring performance of process metrics and leading indicators.? Drive opportunity capture through analysis of
key performance indicators, manufacturing cost reports, and stable operations
activities to create year on year sustained value.
?20%?? MT Design and Capability:? Support
and enable continuous improvement of process safety.? Provide technical leadership in
the application of the Process Safety Risk Management (PSRM) program, including
assembly of Process Safety Information, participation in Process Risk
Assessments, identification of mitigating actions to close gaps identified in
Risk Assessments, and providing technical leadership to the closure of gaps.
?25%?? Innovation Road Mapping:? Provide technical leadership in identifying
and developing scope and business case of projects to capture additional value
and/or enable new business
opportunities.? Partner with Global MT to
identify and develop new technologies and processes.? This responsibility will also include
participation in project justification and gate reviews, preliminary design activities,
interaction with the capital effectiveness team in validating the detailed
design, and providing technical oversight during installation and start-up
activities. ?
?15%?? Talent Development and MT Education:? Develop
Capabilities at the facilities.? Lead
the process of documenting, transferring, and training employees on technical knowledge,
including implementation of standards that govern operations of the
facility.? Provide coaching and
mentorship from a technical perspective and provide leadership in identifying,
developing, and retaining a talent pipeline for technical and operations
positions.
?15%?? Technology Performance – Sustain:? Provide troubleshooting support as needed in operations,
including participation in Root Cause Analysis and 5 Why activities where
technical support is needed.? Lead
efforts in auditing the operation against standards on a regular basis and
provide feedback to the Global Manufacturing Technology group on additions or
modifications needed to standards to continually improve the content. Monitor
and lead execution on action items from Key Performance Indicator monitoring to
insure peak performance. ***Position can sit in Cedar Rapids, IA / Hammond, IN / Wayzata, MN***Skills:
Minimum Required
Qualifications
Bachelor (or Graduate) Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems Engineering or other technical discipline that has a strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mass/material balance and process design5 years production, engineering, and/or process engineering experienceSix Sigma Green Belt certification or willingness to complete Green Belt certification by June 2020Willingness to complete Black Belt certification by June 2022Demonstrated ability to lead change through influenceDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and organize / prioritize to meet business objectivesDemonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skillsDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate through written, verbal, and presentation skills to a broad and diverse audience Demonstrated ability to implement technical solutions and best practicesDemonstrated ability in aligning, deploying, and executing initiatives within a workgroupDemonstrated ability in leading multi-functional teams across different technologies, sites, or product linesDemonstrated ability to generate value independent of facility leadership directionDemonstrated ability to mentor and coach other technical positions such as Manufacturing Technology or EngineeringDemonstrated leadership or participation in at least three continuous improvement, cost savings, or productivity improvement projects utilizing statistical analysis toolsAbility to analyze manufacturing cost performance and identify opportunities across multiple sites or facilitiesAbility to understand and integrate technical, operational, and engineering activitiesTrained in Statistically Supported Decision Making or Data Analytics along with knowledge of advanced statistical software tools such as MinitabStrong organization and time management skillsAbility to travel up to 35% of the time?Preferred Qualifications8 years of production, engineering, and/or process engineering experienceDemonstrated experience with technologies and processes such as flash drying, spray drying, extrusion, distillation, evaporation, and batch / plug flow reactionsStrong chemistry
