Regulatory Data Scientist/Statistics Intern – #01RY0

Achieving this vision demands revolutionizing agriculture–statistical science is a critical component to achieving this vision. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual to become part of our fast-moving, interdisciplinary Regulatory Statistics team within Data Science and Analytics for the summer.  The successful candidate will be part of a group that partners broadly with domain scientists to conduct comprehensive product characterization and safety assessments, providing technical expertise in design of experiments, statistical modeling, and inference as part of the science-based effort to secure global regulatory approvals and freedom-to-operate for Monsanto???s portfolio. The intern will be responsible for conducting independent research and statistical analyses, pursuing data science solutions, and communicating results to the Regulatory organization.  The intern will also interact with scientists from across the organization to gain knowledge and awareness of various technical areas of research. Dates for this 2019 summer internship are May 13 – August 2. Successful candidate must have plans to return to school to continue program of study following internship and must be willing and able to relocate to St. Louis, MO for the summer.Qualifications:Required Skills:Current graduate student (Ph.D. preferred) enrolled at a university in the U.S., with at least one year of graduate work; pursuing a degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or related field Strong background in experimental design and fitting linear- and generalized linear mixed models Programming experience in SAS and RExcellent written and oral communication skills Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving abilities Detail- and results-oriented with the ability to thrive in a team-based environment Interest in applications of modern biotechnology and chemistry to sustainable agriculture Preferred Skills:Experience with R Shiny App development and data visualizationStrong background with machine learning Experience with relational databasesExperience with scientific and statistical collaboration
