Position:? Regulatory Technician/Farm Technician?Great Lakes Agricultural Research Service, Inc. (GLARS) is an agricultural research firm in Walworth County, Wisconsin. We are looking for a full time, well organized, detail oriented person to be a Regulatory Technician/Farm Technician. Applicant should have the agricultural background necessary to conduct field research trials, concerning new pesticides, varieties and fertilizers on many crops. Applicant should have the farm machinery operating skills necessary to plant, maintain and harvest research trials. Applicant should be willing to work long hours when necessary from planting through harvest. Good writing skills and computer skills are essential. We are a small organization looking for someone who will blend into our company in a positive and productive manner.?Job Responsibilities:Assist Principal Field Investigator (PFI) to successfully complete several regulatory trials (Good Laboratory Practices and APHIS regulated GMO field trials) each year.Perform cultural practices for trials.? Crops include field corn, sweet corn, soybean, alfalfa, fruit, potato, cucumber, tomato and other vegetables.? This includes setting up planters, planting, applying fertilizer, hand weeding, crop maintenance sprays (weeds, insects and diseases) and operating harvesting equipment.Plot layout.Calibrate application equipment, make rate calculations, make applications and clean application equipment. (handheld backpack sprayer and tractor sprayer)Basic maintenance of research equipment. (particularly sprayers)Weigh out dry chemicals.?Log in and return test substances. (chemical and seed)Take residue samples (crop and soil). Ship residue samples.Responsible for Irrigation (set up and maintenance) and updating the irrigation log.Collect data for regulatory trials using sponsor notebook. (paper and/or electronic)Organize final reports for regulatory trials.?Write some, but not all, GLARS Standard Operating Procedures.?Minimum education: BS in Agriculture or Science, 2-year Technical School degree or UW Farm and Industry Short Course 2-year certificate.?Minimum health requirement:?
