Also, asset prioritization, PPM optimization, and aggressively funded equipment design improvements/upgrades. The Engineer – Reliability (Rotating Equipment) is responsible for reducing maintenance costs and production losses; improving reliability; and promoting safety at the Nutrien facility in Geismar, LA. What you will do:Investigate rotating equipment problems and design modifications to improve reliability, productivity and safety. The investigations will frequently involve failure analysis to determine the root cause of equipment failures and recommend improvements in design, administrative, and/or PPM measures to reduce or eliminate failuresDevelop new rotating equipment specifications based on the requirements of the Operations, Reliability, and Maintenance departments. He/she will then be responsible to draft project requests forms, review supplier quotations, and make recommendations for purchaseAssist with equipment repairs which may require working with original equipment manufacturers, OEM’s, and outside shops regarding repair of rotating equipment. This may include travel to local and abroad shops for QC visitsSupport the Capital Improvement group on major rotating equipment upgrades. The planning will involve the gathering and assessment of information to determine the requirements, writing technical specifications, and reviewing quotations. It will also involve monitoring of the progress of projects executed by Nutrien personnel or outside service providersIndirectly supervise and manage Capital Improvement group crews as well as Nutrien employeesResponsible for preparation of rotating equipment repair and overhaul proceduresPerform random safety audits on workers performing jobs on site to ensure adherence to site safety policies. Performs equipment and Production history data analysis to identify and prioritize areas for reliability improvementsParticipates in the Rotating Equipment Site Stakeholders Team (RESST) to optimize and manage predictive/preventive maintenance schedules, reporting and corrective actions identified in PdM/PM Reliability Program led by SME across NutrienKey contributor to the site’s Bad Actor program by providing reports based on Maintenance spend and loss of productionSupport Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives by actively participating in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) program, MOC initiation and review, and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR)Serve as technical focal point for maintenance organization for all aspects of rotating equipment including ANSI and API pump types, rotary screw compressors, turbomachinery, gearboxes, fans …etc.Investigating new materials, methods, and equipment with the aim of reducing maintenance costs, improving reliability, improving productivity, and enhancing safetySupport Planning Department to provide technical assistance regarding development of maintenance and project work scopes. Can include but not limited to materials of construction selection of equipment/piping and torque calculations on custom equipment connectionsProvide oversight to engineered leak repair clamps by working with outside leak repair contractors to develop designed solution to mitigate critical leaks that could cause production or safety impactsProcess equipment upgrades/modifications, mechanical integrity policies/procedure updates through the MOC programWill also be expected to have some familiarity with fixed equipment engineering principles and code knowledge to fill in for fixed equipment maintenance engineer as needed or help with project work surges in the area of fixed equipmentAssist with budgeting and record keepingAll other duties as assignedWhat you will bring:Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineer preferred)Five plus years of maintenance experienceExperience with vibration monitoring and analysisUnderstanding of equipment balancing and alignment principlesUnderstanding of API codes relating to procurement, testing, and repair of rotating equipmentExperience with ASME BPVC fixed equipment codes preferredExperience with Reliability Engineering principles/programs such as Weibull & Crow/AMSAAMust possess valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record that meets company standardsAbility to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) cardSuccessful completion and passing of company pre-employment background check, drug screen and other related testingEffectively communicate, orally (face to face and by telephone) and in writing, in English with coworkers, contractors, government officials and Senior ManagementRead and understand written material (in English), including use and understanding of basic numerical calculationsMust be able to deal effectively with people and resolve conflicts and problemsAble to organize and prioritize multiple projects and makes adjustments quickly as neededAble to analyze financial and cost data and develop conclusions and recommendationsAbility to accept direction and work effectively & cooperatively with other peopleMust have intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point)Must possess strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with both company and contract employeesMust be goal orientated, self-motivated and able to work independentlyMust have strong analytical and troubleshooting skillsMust be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 poundsApply for this job.
