Research Agronomist Our client is a privately owned, US Based, global manufacturer of plant, animal and food nutrition products. They offer a great working environment and small company feel. The Research Agronomist position is a key member of the Research, Quality and Innovation (RQI) team and works closely with the RQI Director and division leaders (Sales, Marketing, Research, Development, and Manufacturing) to develop and execute activities in his area of influence. Among others, the position supervises the design, implementation and supervision of research trials, provides support to enhance existing product offerings; identify new product opportunities; develop, execute and/or supervise field research program to support existing and new offerings; provide technical support, training and further education to the field sales teams, distributors and end users; and provide input and participate in marketing, market planning and technical written documents for our products that will support our strategic growth/expansion plans. Key Areas of Responsibility for the Research AgronomistDevelops a comprehensive existing and new product development and trial program that will drive new product growth and geographic expansion into new areasCollaborate with Sales, Marketing and Research to develop and execute a research strategy that supports and optimizes the marketing and sales of current and new plant nutrition offeringsWork closely with the RQI Director and field sales team to ensure trial protocols are scientifically sound and meet business objectivesSupervise third party research collaboratorsSupport sales efforts using personal expertise in the field of agronomy, plant nutrition, and relevant university researchWork closely with sales and our customers to provide technical support for our expanding product lineManage/execute field trial programs with external cooperators and internal resourcesParticipate in the discovery of new product concepts and opportunitiesLead research initiatives in looking for new ways to improve our product portfolioDevelop fertility programs that are crop specific to help grow salesProvide technical support for fertilizer blend mix compatibilityTrouble shoot crop problems that may arise for current and prospective customersMake sound nutrient recommendations from soil and tissue tests for common crops grown in assigned territoriesProvide further evidence of products efficacy using various means of application on a broad range of cropsProduces relevant technical literature Key Requirements for the Research AgronomistEducation & ExperienceMinimum education requirement: PhD in Plant Science or related field, Plant Nutrition preferred. Chemistry-related minor preferred3+ years of field Pest Control/Agronomic experienceCurrent CCA certification is highly desirable Knowledge and SkillsAbility to translate corporate strategy into tactical R&D objectives to grow the businessCurrent knowledge of the California agriculture industry; agronomy, crop nutrition, crop protection, and specialty product offeringsStrong agronomy and communication skills to support interactions with all relevant partiesLeverages well developed decision making skillsCombines strategic thinking and tactical implementation skillsDirects and implements research activities to produce successful, integrated resultsAbility to think conceptually and creativelyCombines high integrity with energetic problem solvingAbility to make effective presentationsApply for this job.
