Research Associate, Data Analysis
Come join our team! Ensures the work location or group functions efficiently by performing a variety of duties using a wide range of procedures when conducting experiments and analyzing data. Assembles and analyzes data of specific problems while initiating action within standard procedures. Conducts experiments, to completion, according to specific procedures, exercising independent judgment and discretion as appropriate. Maintains, organizes, and summarizes results of experiments. Operates equipment and assures equipment operates properly. May organize and supervise work of seasonal employees and occasionally regular employees. This position will perform data analysis and reporting duties while providing customer support for a high throughput genotyping laboratory. – Ensures efficient and timely data return using custom software packages. – Assembles and analyzes data of specific problems while initiating action within standard procedures. Duty/Responsibility – Complete Data Analysis workload according to defined protocols, and within designed timeframes. Exercise independent judgment and discretion as appropriate.
– Analyze data using software packages provided. Interpret analysis and troubleshoot possible issues. Provide feedback on software and troubleshooting procedures as needed.
– Identify sources of data loss through root cause analysis and provide possible explanations and corrective action recommendations. – Organize and summarize results of special projects.
– May hire, organize and supervise work of Research Assistants / or temporary employees ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner and is completed on time.
Join project teams and assist in data related duties. Including, but not limited to, designing experiments, analyzing experiment results, and providing concise results reports.
Provide customer support as directed.
Maintain and ensure accuracy of SOP and work documents, workload tracking software, and customer contact documentation.
Prioritize time to complete multiple activities.
Determine if quality of data meets predefined expectations.
Identify data loss and provide possible explanations, and determine if observed data loss may be recovered. Qualifications:Bachelors degree in genetics or scientific or agricultural field and minimum of 2 years of industry related experience, or equivalent level of relevant education and experience. Demonstrated strength in quality control, attention to detail, and organizational skills are required. Effective interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to read, write and speak English at an intermediate level. Excellent computer skills are required. Familiarity with software analysis of data in a high throughput lab is desirable. Experience with SAS, R, SQL, or JMP is desirable. Must be able to work independently with direction while functioning as a team member.
