Research Associate, Maize
JOB PURPOSE This position provides day-to-day support for a variety of maize research activities at the Princeton, Illinois research center. The position will support all phases of experiment planning, data collection, data quality and analysis, seed filling, and field activities including planting, pollinating and harvest. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES. Conduct experiments according to specific procedures, exercising independent judgment and discretion, as appropriate. This includes, but is not limited to, the knowledge of general agronomic practices, herbicide application and evaluation procedures, crop scouting, implementation of new technologies, computer skills and experimental design and analysis. Use Pioneer proprietary software for initiation, mapping, tracking and analysis of experiments and communicate data and information as appropriate to experiment managers. Manipulate and analyze UAS imagery in order to gather usable research data from them. Organize, supervise and train temporary employees ensuring that priorities are set and that work is performed safely, accurately and efficiently.Integrate multiple priorities and work activities to successfully meet departmental and seasonal deadlines.Work effectively as a team member at a multi-project research center to ensure that departmental goals and deadlines are met.Adapt new technology for use within plant breeding as well as develop and establish proficiency with new computer software related to the overall breeding effort.Lead at least one Safety Program, lead/follow allApply for this job.
