Research Associate, Molecular Support
The Research Associate will be a key member of the molecular analysis team. They will organize the incoming plants for the analysis pipeline for all crops. The focus for this individual will be to keep the pipelines organized and on schedule every week. In addition, this position may assist colleagues in sampling tasks, contribute to data quality management, and report writing. Duties & Responsibilities
This position will largely focus on supporting the analysis pipeline for all crops in the molecular characterization group with in the pipeline management team. The candidate will be responsible for understanding where the plants are in the greenhouse growing process, what stage(s) they will need to be sampled, and when data-based decisions on plant fate are made. They will also need an understanding of what tests each plant will need and expected outcomes. The Research Associate may summarize data and present findings to internal and external customers.
This position may assist or contribute to other areas related to greenhouse crop production and internal research to help assure targets are met and effective support is provided for gene discovery and product development work. Assisting in sampling and other greenhouse tasks, while maintaining a clean/safe work environment and meeting all compliance standards, is expected.
This position will handle large amounts of raw data and required to make some analysis calls. It will be critical to possess skills to organize and analyze the data. Qualifications:Bachelor???s degree with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the biological sciences, molecular biology, computer science, plant physiology, or related field is required.Knowledge of experimental design is beneficial.Knowledge of molecular biology is required.Must be comfortable with learning new computer programs and proficient in execution.Prior experience managing research projects is beneficial.May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.This position requires ability to work on weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule.Excellent communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, possess a positive attitude and work well independently as well as a team member with minimal supervision.Other qualifications are the ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, a proven ability to succeed in a team environment, and solid computer skills.
