Research Associate – Plant Delivery
ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Research Associate to join our fast-growing and collaborative teams to work, in particular, on plant transformation and tissue culture in the delivery teams. This is a hands-on lab-based role which requires the ability to concentrate, pay attention to details, work efficiently, and troubleshoot. The right candidate will be well-organized, flexible, and able to deliver high quality results on time. AS A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, YOU WILL…. Perform tissue transformation in multiple crops (eg. soybean, tomato, and corn)Initiate and maintain ?in vitro plant cultures in a high throughput settingPrepare plant tissue culture mediaSupport plant gene modification experimentsSample plant tissues for molecular and physiological analysesMaintain a clean working environment for plant tissue culture experimentsMaintain detailed and organized records of your work, project data you generate and other information as neededWork with colleagues to troubleshoot and develop effective solutions when problems occurParticipate in scientific discussions and present research outcomes to peers and management YOU BRING Associate's or Bachelor s degree in Plant Biology or related subject with 1-2 years laboratory experienceExperience with aseptic technique in laminar flow and bio-containment hoodsExperience with bacterial cell cultureUnderstanding of microbiology and molecular biology principles/techniquesAbility to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailExcellent planning, organization and execution skillsProven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team memberShow initiative, have good judgment and be willing to take on additional tasks/ and responsibilities as needed to achieve goals and deliverables.Ability to communicate effectively with peers and managementPositive attitude and good interpersonal skillsFlexibility, adaptability and ability to challenge status quo in a constructive mannerHigh ethical standards and trustworthinessProficiency with Google Suite (Mail, Docs, Slides, Sheets and Drive) and Cloud-based electronic notebook software like BenchlingAbility to work creatively and efficiently in a fast-paced, start-up company environmentStrong communication skills, both written and oralEnergy, self-motivation, ownership and focused execution.Curiosity; desire to continuously learn and have a meaningful impact.Creative and strategic thinking, willingness to be bold and take risks.A collaborative approach, open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback.
