A summer intern position is available for a 3-month research program designed to give a student exposure to plant tissue culture, plant transformation, and plant molecular biology research. The student will have a mentor and an individual research project. As part of the program, the individual will be expected to lead groups of co-workers to complete required tasks, and to conduct a research project whose results will be presented on a seminar at the end of the period. The student will be expected to participate in various aspects of the research team's activities including DNA vector construction, plant transformation, aseptic plant tissue culture, molecular analytics, lab maintenance and lab safety. Accurate collection of experimental data is required. Provide summaries and reports to supervisors, and present results in company or outside meetings when necessary. Follow company safety policies, protocols, and procedures, and ensure a safe working environment for self and team members.Qualifications:QualificationsEducation and ExperienceCandidates must have completed their sophomore level of undergraduate study (U.S.) or 1st year of undergraduate study (Canada) in biological sciences or equivalent amounts of relevant education. An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, prior to beginning the internship preferred. Course work in plant cell biology, plant physiology and/or plant tissue culture, genetics, statistical analysis and molecular biology skills preferred. Knowledge and experience in general lab operation is necessary for the job. CompetenciesIndividual must display a high degree of self-motivation, self-initiative and ability to work well with others. Good communication and interpersonal skills along with strong computer aptitude are essential. Previous research experience preferred, but not required. Ability to maintain complete, accurate and timely records of experimental data and procedures.Computer skills (Excel, Access, and electronic data collection) are a plus.Experience or knowledge in aseptic technique, plant tissue culture and/or plant transformation is desired, but not necessary. ?We are excited to announce that Corteva Agriscience? is the name of the new Agriculture Division of DowDuPont?.
