Research Intern – Integrated Product Characterization and Development
DuPont Pioneer is seeking a Research Intern – Integrated Product Characterization & Development – Maize Component Characterization to participate in a 3-month internship from May ??? August 2017. The Maize Component Characterization internship is designed to contribute toward the collection of valuable research data characterizing the performance of corn and soy insect traits, ag traits, and seed treatments for the Mid-south. Interns in the program will be expected to participate in all aspects of the project's activities. In addition, each intern will be expected to have a small research program that they will present at the conclusion of the internship. The individual will be involved with small-plot field research across multiple locations; planting, plot establishment and maintenance, and data collection of traits important to the Integrated Product program. This position will compliment your formal education by providing the opportunity to experience a broad overview of opportunities in ag research, contribute to bringing innovative products to our customers, build interpersonal and communication skills, enhance and develop your skills through practical experience while collecting data and information related to field trials, and gain experience in independently managing your time and priorities. A key component of the position will be the expectation to follow written protocol and be a key contact for a specific project executing the following tasks: preparation of seed, preparation of insects for field infestation, plant sampling, equipment installation and removal, and trait field evaluations. Qualifications:Education and ExperienceCollege Junior standing or above, majoring in Entomology, Integrated Pest Management, Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Genetics, or a related field. Agricultural background is beneficial.CompetenciesIndividual must display a high degree of self-motivation, self-initiative, and ability to work well with others. Good communication and interpersonal skills along with strong computer aptitude are essential. Other Qualifications: ??? Must be able to work independently. ??? Skilled with MS Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) ??? High level of skill with written communications. ??? Valid driver???s license and good driving record. ??? Basic knowledge of corn and soybean production practices. ??? Superior work ethic, highly motivated, and thorough attention to detail. ??? Leadership and interpersonal skills/experience desired. ???
