We are currently searching for a Research Specialist to work with our Seed & Soil Enhancement Team in Seymour, Illinois.
Description of Job:
The purpose of this position is to execute scientific research and/or development strategies for the Seed Enhancement and Seed Protection portfolio of the company. Investigates feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and problems pertaining to assigned projects. Executes Field research, and greenhouse research for early screening through mature products. Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories related to field research and data analysis. Participates in development of patent applications. Interfaces with various departments. Uses professional concepts to contribute to the development of company concepts and principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways. ? Performs plant protection and crop enhancement research and/or development in collaboration with internal scientists, formulation chemists, and marketing manager as well as outside researchers. Maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories in seed treatment and in furrow application methods and related research. Experience with digital agricultural technology such as GIS, sensing and controller?s hardware is desired. ? Manage the seed treating program for all research and development trial work. Responsibilities will include acquire seed and products, treating seed with products and shipping treated seed to cooperators and researchers as specified by Product Development Manager protocols. ? Coordinate and conduct research trials with in-depth knowledge of agronomic factors in assigned territory for development of new products and uses (not labeled) per the product business plan. This includes seed safety, efficacy, residue and environmental fate studies (GLP). Has skills utilizing internal Research Information System (RIS) as well as ARM to develop study protocols and track/report results. ? Develop technical PowerPoint presentations and literature exercising in-depth knowledge of agronomics to support product use. Utilize excellent communication and presentation skills to conduct in house and customer demonstrations of seed treatment and/or in furrow equipment. ? Perform a wide variety of research and/or development field and greenhouse tasks and experiments in collaboration with others. Make detailed observations, analyzes data, interprets results and submit reports. Exercise technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses. Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature. Contribute to project process within his/her scientific discipline. Investigate, create and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement. Maintain high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature. May participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals. May be responsible for identifying patentable inventions. Use professional concepts in accordance with company objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways.
Required to interact with a large range of internal employees/departments and external customers and must demonstrate excellent communication skills.

1 ? 3 years of related experience. Education: MS, Ph.D. or equivalent in an applied agricultural related field such as Agronomy, Plant pathology, or Entomology.
