Rotating Equipment / Reliability Engineer

CHS has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in Laurel, Montana. We are looking for a Rotating Equipment / Reliability Engineer to assist the Plant Engineering Department to maintain, design, and recommend all types of rotating equipment, systems and parts. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential.
You will:Review, update and/or establish new/existing rotating equipment by engineering standards and purchase specifications. Provide technical assistance with regard to routine maintenance and major overhauls of refinery rotating equipment (for Turnarounds and Major Maintenance events).Provide leadership, coordination, support, and direct interaction for programs, systems, processes, and practices for Lubrication, Mechanical Seals and Seal Systems, Condition Monitoring, Vibration Analysis, and Rotor-Dynamic Balancing and other reliability and mechanical integrity elements.Write repair and maintenance procedures and standards.Provide stewardship with reliability metrics, scorecards, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for purposes of measuring and identifying the highest value reliability and cost improvement opportunities for the Refinery.Collect, organize, trend and analyze appropriate data to track, trend, and improve reliability.Maintain Asset Records Management that includes oversight and action to update and verify engineering, procurement, operation and maintenance records, spare parts to ensure the information is properly managed, valid, accurate, and readily available when needed.Provide technical direction and design input for process and installation design of rotating equipment.Assist with initial start-up and operation of major refinery equipment.Be a technical resource for all rotating equipment in a refinery.Create and administer preventative maintenance program for all refinery rotating equipment which includes reviewing, revising, adding, and deleting preventative maintenance and condition monitoring tasks to ensure the program is adding full potential value and is based on asset risk.Oversee the proper application and implementation of the Maximo Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure it is capable of being utilized for the Refinery Enterprise Asset Management platform that it is designed and purposed to be.Provide support for the proper application and implementation of Meridium for Asset Performance Management and utilization for Asset Health and Mobile Rounds.Interface with staff engineer and contractors, including developing work scope for overhauls and arranging for service technicians.Perform other duties as needed or assigned, including performing Root Cause Failure Analysis, Mean Time between Failures (MTBF) for rotating equipment, present “One Point Lessons” and support Plant Engineering Department as required.Be able to respond to emergencies, exercise good judgment and critical incident management during Refinery incidents.Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering6 plus years of rotating equipment/reliability engineering experience in a refinery or petrochemical plantProficient with MS Word, Excel, Access and OutlookAbility to wear personal protective equipment, including respiratorsPreferred Qualifications: (desired)Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering examCertifications in vibration and lubrication analysisOil and gas industry experience
