DescriptionCorteva Agriscience, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont is currently seeking a Safety Coordinator in Utica, IL to assist the management team in overall administrative coordination of our established Safety Programs as well as provide direction, support, and consultation to the location regarding safety, health and environmental issues. You will be challenged with a variety of responsibilities in relation to Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) issues. The Safety Coordinator is primarily in a production office setting with regular interaction taking place in high-traffic, high-activity plant and warehouse areas, plus visits to field locations. You will be the key person ensuring safety programs and guidelines are understood and reinforced through training, coaching and leading others. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Interpret and provide information on laws, regulations, and company policies and proceduresAdminister safety programs, conduct employee training and complete risk management assessments in the areas of safety, occupational health, and hazardous waste managementSupport location in record-keeping of Occupational Safety & Health programsSafety/Loss Prevention: Review, interpret and implement the Pioneer safety, loss prevention and occupational health programs for compliance with applicable local and regional SHE regulationsDevelop and implement site specific safety policies/programsReview facility operations and consult with Risk Management, site safety committee, SHE networks and employees to identify unsafe working conditions and develop appropriate controls or alternativesAssist location management with interpretation and implementation of all facets of risk management workProvide SHE energy to the location, demonstrated by frequent and consistent communication about the importance of safety & risk management effortsQualificationsThe following are required:High School Diploma or GEDTwo to four (2-4) years of agricultural production safety, manufacturing safety, or other related experience (equivalent relevant experience and education will be considered)Valid Drivers LicenseAble to operate specialized safety equipment and alarms, plus access and audit a wide variety of safety conditions including elevated areas, crawl spaces, machinery safety, etc.Excellent communication skillsTeamwork skillsCoaching & leadership skillsWilling and able to work in a variety of areas (field, plant, warehouse)Willing and able to climb and/or work in elevated areas; standing and sitting for extended periodsWilling and able to work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditionsWilling and able to lift up to 50 lbs. and complete work that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting with or without reasonable accommodationWillingness and ability to work overtime hours including weekend work required during seasonal peaksHigh level computer abilitiesThe following are preferred:Two year technical diploma/degree or equivalentOSHA 10-hr or 30-hr training certificationProgram Management & Training: Thorough understanding of record keeping requirements, incident reporting, incident investigation, and timeframes for each program.Workplace Safety: Knowledge of First Aid, CPR, and AED skills and certification; thorough knowledge of safety regulationsOccupational Health: Thorough knowledge of basic industrial hygiene and occupational health hazards and regulationsFire Prevention & Response: Understanding of fire codes, standards, and regulations. (fire detection & alarm system testing and maintenance, flammable liquid storage, hot work permits, etc.)Environmental: Awareness of applicable environmental policies, standards, guidelines, regulations, and local requirements.
