Safety & Environmental Manager
SUMMARY:This position is responsible for managing Safety Programs and Environmental Programs at one facility to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and local environmental and safety laws and regulations.Safety duties include coordination of disaster recovery and contingency planning for all operations within the facility, implementation of strategies for accident prevention and Workers' Compensation cost management, and maintenance of safety-related programs, including instructor certification, leadership and strategic direction by leading the plant's Safety continuous improvement efforts. As an integral member of the Plant Management Team, this position will support and advise site management with regard to the Safety Management system. Other duties include developing training materials and conducting or supervisor training for safety programs, coordinating and conducting annual evacuation drills, ensuring proper completion of incidentinvestigations, responding to OSHA complaints and inspections, formulate a proactive, local safety strategy that drives the plant to become sustainable, healthy and safe operationally; participate in developing a vision for safety, which includes continual enhancement of established programs and consistent implementation of new programs within a team environment; be involved in the effort to eliminate, prevent, or reduce the occurrence of safety, health and medical issues andperforming other duties as the need arises.Environmental duties include managing NPDES-permitted discharges of wastewater and storm water; spills and releases; non-hazardous and hazardous wastes; community right- to-know reporting; air emissions; noise; odors; sustainability initiatives; and performing other duties as needed. An important aspect of managing these programs includes conducting, coordinating, tracking and keeping records of compliance training. A high-level of initiative is expected, along with the ability to effectively interact and communicate with persons at the facility, corporate offices, and the public. Developing and maintaining relationships with regulatory agencies is necessary.REQUIREMENTS:Education: Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental or science-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.Experience: 3+ years safety management and environmental preferred.Computer Skills: Basic computer skills including generating simple letters, spreadsheets and/or graphics for personal business use or creating simple queries and simply formatted data output.Travel: 3 domestic trips per yearTo view a full job description and submit your resume for consideration, click APPLY TO THIS POSITION below and follow the prompts.Apply for this job.
