Company: GRAINCO FS, Inc.Hiring Manager: Damon NeiggemannLocation: Ottawa, ILGrade: SalaryPURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENTUnder the direction of the Human Resources Manager this position is responsible for the day to day implementation of safety programs and regulatory regulations for all GRAINCO FS, Inc. locations, and providing documentation in regards to the above. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Evaluates, develops, promotes and enforces safety policies and programs to protect the human and physical resources of GRAINCO FS, Inc. and the communities it operates in. Provide guidance to GRAINCO FS, Inc. employees in establishing proactive safety and health programs. Provides effective training for company employees to perform tasks in compliance with established safety, health, regulatory and environmental requirements. Evaluates and recommends the need for additional training and compliance programs, and helps develop such programs. Provide training to GRAINCO FS, Inc. employees to establish guidelines and information for a safe working environment. Follows established audit procedures and programs that effectively monitor the performance and compliance levels of the company. Perform safety inspections and audits with GROWMARK, Inc. safety and regulatory personnel, summarize these activities, communicate with General Manager and individual locations for correction and follow through to ensure correction to promote and achieve safety and compliance throughout the company. Become a member of designated safety committee, prepare training on current topics, and provide materials to train employees at their locations. Provide necessary documentation for trainings, inspections and audits. Maintain an inventory of correct PPE, signage, and other needs for compliance in safety and regulatory programs. Required to be knowledgeable in all areas of regulatory compliance which would include local, state and federal regulations through agencies including, but not limited to: EPA, OSHA, DOT, DOA, and NAPA/Fire Marshal. Maintains working relationships with and provides support for local regulatory and service agencies. Conducts or assists in training of emergency response teams to protect the resources of the community and the company. Communicates new or pending regulations to management with follow-up to ensure the company and employees are in compliance with all regulations. Responds to environmental, safety and quality related emergencies. Conducts accident investigations and develops procedures for prevention, correction and compliance. Attends regional Environmental, Health, Safety and Insurance compliance meetings presented by the GROWMARK Safety and Insurance Services Department, works with GROWMARK staff Safety Specialists, and uses materials developed by GROWMARK to promote and achieve compliance throughout the company. OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare an annual calendar outlining training dates, compliance deadlines, and insurance renewals, etc. Provides research and answers to specific questions concerning environmental regulations and proper procedures. Acts as a liaison with all regulatory agencies. Maintain a working relationship with and provide support to local regulatory and service agencies. Conducts or assists in training of emergency response teams to protect the resources of the community and the company. Provides supervision in the area of environmental site assessments and cleanups. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS:Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a Safety, Industrial Technology or Environmental discipline, or the equivalent thereof through significant work experience. WORKING CONDITIONS:Ability to work hours beyond those considered normal . Proven ability to maintain complete confidentiality. Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, presentation, and customer service skills. Ability to respond to crisis related emergencies. Ability to analyze information and generate appropriate programs, reports and resource material. Must have and maintain a valid driver s license to meet necessary travel requirements. Must be able to utilize lifts, stairs, and ladders to inspect facilities. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds infrequently. Must be able to climb to heights of up to 100 feet infrequently.Skills:
