The Safety Technician works closely with the EH&S Delivery Leader and EH&S Delivery (Safety) Specialist to implement EH&S management systems (work process, standards, procedures) in order to meet business EH&S objectives and maintain the sites license to operator. This position is a balance between spending time in the process areas observing, interacting, and coaching employees and contractors on safe work practices and implementing EH&S standards and practices across the site.This role includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:Implement detailed, task level, day to day EH&S (primarily safety and industrial hygiene) programs, utilizing the Dow EH&S work process, standards and procedures.Ensure that the safety and industrial hygiene aspects of the departments / sites Operating Discipline are adequate and applied to achieve safety performance goals.Act as the department contact for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.Primary plant contact for safety issues. May also be the first point of contact for industrial hygiene and environmental issues.Coaching teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities compared against the department EH&S clarification document, company safety standards, and site safety standards.Assist in developing and achieving department and site EH&S goals.As required, participate in the safety related reviews of projects, including management of change (MOC) reviews.As required, conduct and document investigations of incidents and ensure follow up actions to prevent re-occurrences are addressed.Perform audits and self-assessments on EH&S standards and programs, including safe work permit reviews, isolation of energy reviews, elevated work reviews, etc.Conduct safety walks of process areas and active jobs ensuring that safety standards and safe work practices are being followed through observation and interaction. Assist Operations or Maintenance with correcting any issues that are identified during the safety walk. This activity should be at least 50% of the Safety Techs time.Review active Safe Work Permits and Red Tag Masters.Attend department morning meeting.Complete assigned training, document reviews, and compliance tasks.QualificationsThe following are required:High School Diploma/GED2-3 years of experience in production, operations, or manufacturing safety, or related fieldExperience with safety programs, policies, and proceduresExperience with safety interventions and interactionsExperience with audits and observationsExperience with incident investigation and corrective action implementationAbility and willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as neededThe following are preferred:Associates or Degree in Safety or related fieldOSHA Training Certification(s)Apply for this job.
