Safety/Loss Prevention Coordinator ? Waggaman, LAThis is an exempt level position Position Summary:This position offers an exciting opportunity for a safety professional to manage the health, safety and compliance within ARTCO Fleeting Operations.
The successful candidate will possess a high level of authority in regards to training and guiding employees based on safety needs.
This crucial position allows the successful candidate to gain exposure in both an office environment, as well as on board the boats.
In addition, this position offers the opportunity to supervise various committees, including audit and incident investigation, emergency planning, risk assessment, program development, implementation, and training of rules and procedures. Job Responsibilities:
Supervise the implementation of ADM?s policies and proceduresDevelop and present training for new hires, contractors, and location colleagues as requiredDirect colleague interaction Develop, update, and maintain safety compliance programsDevelop, analyze and submit reportsCalibrate and repair safety equipmentPurchase and maintain inventory of safety supplies and environmental if neededSupervise employees, contractors and visitors by spending a significant amount of time on site or aboard boats ensuring all programs and procedures are adequate and being followedDevelop and maintain proper document retentionSustain and improve current behavior based safety programs and policiesMaintain required paperwork such as OSHA 300 logs and Jones Act Requirements in compliance with federal lawLead and participate in all incident investigations Conduct internal RCP audits on vessels, and at management sites in accordance with Company?s approved Safety management System.
The Responsible Carrier Program (RCP) is a safety management system for tugboat, towboat and barge companies that provides a framework for continuously improving company safety performance in three areas, policy, vessel equipment, and human factorsDevelop and track corrective actions for audit findingsLead and participate in on-site safety committee Job Requirements:
Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures Knowledge of machines throughout land side locations and marine, including computer and safety equipmentWork with QA department as neededCollege degree relating to safety and/or environmental preferredPrefer experience in human safety and environmental/regulatory compliance Must be self-motivated Must possess excellent leadership, team building, problem solving, and organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication requiredProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsMust be comfortable working on or near waterPrevious knowledge of line boat/harbor boat operations, and marine experience is preferredPhysical Requirements: Walking or standing for extended periods of time Working in environments at varying temperatures and noise levels Availability to work occasional weekends and/or holidays as well as during
