CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Processing and Food Ingredients division. We are looking for a Sales Manager to promote and represent the sales and marketing of the full CHS bird food product portfolio, finding new business opportunities and development of new market channels. You must be a highly motivated and entrepreneurial leader with a commitment to building relationships, teambuilding, innovation, ethical decision making and driving execution. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, strategic thinking and planning skills, negotiation skills and financial acumen are necessary. You will:Drive incremental sales in assigned accounts utilizing sales strategies and objectives established to increase market share, maximize sales revenues while increasing profit margins and ensuring excellent customer service.Strategically develop, present and close new business opportunities by clearly understanding customer requirements and expectations and effectively managing resources to achieve the new business objectives.Identify new customers by studying the marketplace and trends, estimating sales volume and qualifying potential customers vs. CHS strategic fit.Manage the product and technical sales process; provide first line technical support to customers, distributors and brokers.Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the overall marketplace and actively monitor, communicate and act upon changes relevant to customer, market, competition and internal capabilities.Create, develop, drive and evaluate the go to market strategy for the end users and distributor network.Ensure an on-going market focus of the overall business to build strong relationships with customers and adapt to their needs. Service current customers by maintaining rapport, making periodic visits, providing support, information and guidance, evaluating customer needs and recommending new opportunities and/or profit and service improvements as well as responding to requests and resolving problems to meet or exceed customer requirements.Develop and implement integrated supply chain management programs with customers and develop a broad base relationship with external customer departments (Quality Assurance, marketing, purchasing and product placement) in order to identify needs and opportunities as well as to provide selling solutions.Develop the distributor network to be successful high performing agents for CHS to ensure strategic plan goals for volume and profit are achieved.Support retailers/distributors sales resources in identifying and prospecting various market segments, making sales presentations and work closely with them in gaining new incremental business. Manage direct sales with defined core accounts.Provide account services, which ensure high post-sales satisfaction and facilitate positive long-term relationships across multiple customer market channels. Provide sales budget/forecast/projections and attend to other administrative matters ensuring customer orders are fulfilled in a complete and on-time basis. Maintain expense reports, pricing, contract information and customer records in a manner established by supervisor or company policy.Develop and recommend competitive/product positioning and pricing strategies to produce the highest possible long-term market share and ROI in order to meet both company and customer requirements. Maintain the customer database, perform sales reporting and conduct customer product line reviews.Provide timely information and reports on sales/marketing activities, issues, trends, market changes, competitive developments and other critical matters.Maintain and grow the good reputation of CHS in the marketplace by representing the company with the highest level of ethics and courtesy to customers.Travel requirements 20%.Cultivate and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Basic Qualifications: (required)Bachelor?s degree in business, marketing or related field5 plus years of business to business sales experience to include:Experience leading sales and project teams with successful coordination with business administration/inside sales/customer serviceExperience formulating and applying strategic sales plans and key account sales plansExperience managing distributors, brokers and agent teamsExperience with entering new markets with existing products and introducing new products to current marketsExperience selling concepts, products and programs to a diverse customer baseTravel and expense budgeting ?Extensive knowledge and understanding of ingredients in the bird food or pet food industryAbility to travel domestically and internationally over 20% of the time Preferred Qualifications: (desired)8 plus years of business to business sales experience in bird food or companion pet food industryLarge key account or national account sales experienceExtensive experience in the retail & wholesale distributionSuccessful record of sales growthApply for this job.
