These endeavors have been around forcenturies and will continue to be a vital part of the global economy. We currentlyhave Sales Representative Trainee (SRT) positions available within our FoodGroup organization.
The SRTs will initially be based at our HQoffice in Boise, Idaho for a 4+ month sales development training program.
Upon successful completion of the SRTprogram, individuals will be promoted into a field-based sales role in one ofour locations throughout the U.S. Summary The Sales Representative Traineeprogram for the Simplot Food Service selling organization is an integratedlearning opportunity, preparing you to be a leading field sales representative inthe food service industry. The program is structured to develop anunderstanding of customer needs by engaging in solution-based consultativeselling; developing product/technical expertise; refining communication,presentation, and leadership skills; and building a thorough understanding ofcompany structure, roles, functions, and core values. The goal of this programis to prepare you, at the end of the training period, to move into a fieldsales position withinSimplots Food Group Sales organization. [PS1] Role Logistics:After the training period at Simplotscorporate headquarters, successful trainees will be placed into a certaingeography/market where the company has the business need. Trainees must be opento relocating to all locations throughout the US. While we cant guarantee a specificlocation, efforts will be made to place you close to your desired geography. [PS2] Responsibilities
Support the ZoneSales Planner in the development of local market plans for the field designedto help them reach their sales objectives.
Support the leadmanagement process as customers engage with Simplot via email or phone, whichwould include handling the product inquiry or information request to close orcommunicate customer needs to the field for further follow up.
Support Regions withdistributor customers not assigned to a field sales person. Developrelationships with assigned customers through frequent touch via phone/emailand potential local market visits.
Fully embrace andbecome proficient with the Simplot Sales Process and executing the go-to-marketstrategies of the Food Service Division.
Using a consultativeapproach, communicate the selling benefits of the Simplot product line inaddition to the sale of products to ensure that customers are provided with theproduct knowledge they need to be successful.
Deliver on set salesgoals and manage product portfolio.
Represent the fullSimplot product line in all sales capacities. Conduct sales calls to operatorsin the market, sometimes extending across multiple markets. Utilize variousmeans to recruit and establish new partnerships for the sales of products.
Build relationshipsand partner with various internal departments such as Marketing, Finance,Customer Service, Quality Assurance, Culinary, Demand Planning, Production, andLogistics to accomplish key initiatives and complete day-to-day operations.
Research industryand marketing trends and develop product suggestions based on findings. Supplyprograms, information, and tools that aid selling efforts.
Be actively engagedin promoting and driving sales across the entire food service product portfoliowith priority emphasis on those product categories and individual productsidentified as the most strategically and financially important to the division
Be highly engaged inthe use and leverage available with the Simplot CRM system (salesforce.com) todrive efficiency and strong results
Work to drivecustomer acceptance of new product introductions and other innovation asrelevant to the market
Understand localmarket dynamics
operators, distributors, competitors, etc.
and incorporateas necessary into local market sales plan
Identify orfollow-up on new operator sales opportunities with ability to assess theopportunity and match to product and other solutions; e.g., merchandising,recipe, culinary, etc. EducationBachelor's Degree from 4 yearcollege or universityStrong academic record(suggested minimum 3.0 GPA), with a bachelors degree preferably in Agriculture,Food Science, Business, or Hospitality Experience
Demonstratedunderstanding of sales and foodservice industry knowledge preferred.
Demonstratedleadership ability in student organizations and/or work experiences.
Collegiate salesprogram experience strongly preferred.
Dynamic personality,quick learner, positive attitude, great work ethic and flexibility.
Capable ofmulti-tasking to manage unexpected demands from daily activities.
Must be proficientin Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Presentation.
Being self-motivatedwith a demonstrated ability to influence others while being professional inconduct and presentation is key.
